Question, and I just remembered caused it happened when I was colouring. Does it matter what kind of paper you use? I don't know what I used, but when I colored it, the color bleed out. It didn't bleed through the paper, but it didn't give me a clean line. The line was blurry and fuzzy, any suggestions?

Paper is pretty fickle when it comes to the materials being used on it. It all depends on how the artist uses the tools to gain certain effects. You have to know your paper well to choose what to illustrate/work on when plussing your piece(s). I myself use Cardstock paper from WalMart or you can use a good cardstock quality from Strathmore which you can score at your local art supply store.

Easy for you to say! (But, really, you're right!)

dude, your vids are awesome though. one question, at my art store they sell them in packs. i got the primary and secondary colour pack and when i go to draw skin colour, it looks horrible cuz i use orange. did the light peach come in a certain pack or did you buy it seperately?

about finding a light source...
I've noticed when i myself draw. and here too, with this demo. that wherever the light source is in the actual room, seems to be the natural choice for us to light a drawing from.

Those markers are expensive so I've only gotten up to twelve markers(bought in clumps of three usually).
But I make the best of it. This helps too! ^^

I tend to buy my markers at my local Michael's craft store. They through out %40 coupons in the Sunday paper and at times %50 off one regularly priced item.

Another place is dickblick.com but there I buy in bulk to save on shipping costs, it's pretty cheap when they have their sales too.

Yep- I'm a Micheal's shopper. Dickblick I haven't tried yet though. I'll look them up.
Thanks for the support!

I really love your tutorials. I've gotten brave enough to started using traditional media because of them.

But! A question. Is there any type of paper you should use for marker works? I see acid-free, medium weight, light weight, recycled ... GAH. Any tips on the types of paper I should be playing with?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StevenSanchez In reply to badpirate [2008-12-30 01:02:43 +0000 UTC]

Any paper that holds well is fine, I use Card stock paper I get from Wal*Mart, Georgia Pacific brand. 8 1/2 x 11

badpirate In reply to StevenSanchez [2008-12-30 01:06:21 +0000 UTC]

I found that when I inked first, the markers caused the ink from my pens to bleed. I'm not sure if it was the type of pens I used or if I just didn't give it enough time to dry. Ever had that problem?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StevenSanchez In reply to BrokenRapture781 [2008-05-28 10:53:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I've had that issue before, I pretty much color faster over the inks so it doesn't happen. There's your quick tip
