It's an extra eyelid.
Prehistoric man had two separate eyelids but seeing as we don't need them, we evolved to not have them.

Nope, Not a tear duct!
On your eye you have a line of flesh lining your eye lids and you'll find a tiny hole at the end of each line, that's your tear duct (ever wonder why you can feel tears coming on? It's because the tears don't start at the edge of your eye, they start a cm or so away and roll into the corner!)! The little piece next next to you nose is a Caruncle, basically it's a sweat glad!

Thing is, no matter how many times I try to practice...I can't draw human faces...even after watching this like 10 times. Even if I try to draw the exact face you drew in the tut. to just practice, it comes like crap.
...So frustrating...

When frustration sets in it just means you're trying to hard.
Go onto something new, don't force a sketch nor a certain look when you feel you're not ready, just enjoying trying to understand what makes it an image and keep sketching with confidence. Remember, don't force it!

Ah, I see what you mean. Yeah, now that I look at it, I was trying so hard for that perfect picture, even though I've really only picked up a pencil for about a year it seems (Spent so much time just looking at art on here to improve. lol)
Well, I may have found part of the solution: expressions. I did a few expressions - along with sketching the nose, mouth, eye - without it being in a head shape...and it's helping.
But I totally understand now about not forcing the sketch. Gonna try to just sit back, relax, and just let it the image happen. lol.
