Description
Used the Kodak M1033 on 640 x 480 HQ mode to record this sketching fun piece. It's raw and uncut so you see how I go about doing my pencil work.At times I'll have music playing in the background or the TV going but today was a quite day
Also, used a Pental Techniclick 0.7 HB mechanical pencil on Card Stock paper.
No audio just good old fashion sketchin

Of all the recommended erasers ive seen or heard of, i cant recall ever seeing an eraser such as that one and it looks great. What kind of eraser is that?

ok so i know that you said the fuzzy sketching is bad and stuff but the way you sketch looks like putting the lines down in the correct spot the 1st time. i know you are very experienced when it comes to drawing obviously but can someone such as myself sketch the same way without having to erase a bunch? i usually visualize the picture i wanna draw but still putting it down fast like that without putting down a wrong line is way hard and you do it like nothing >.< but perhaps i am just complaining too much and the need to erase will get smaller and smaller as i draw more and more. cant go wrong with a lot of practice eh?

Great gallery man. There's alot of energy in your pencils and I loved the short film. Always a pleasure to see an artist with such a clear vision and sure hand working.

I always love to see how people end up with their finished product. Somehow just watching it makes me understand ten times better than just studying the picture itself. Thanks for posting this up!

By the way...Any tips on how to draw hairstyles? Namely women's hairstyles? I've found it real difficult to make hair look....well cool...even with references. Any advice?
π: 0 β©: 1
StevenSanchez In reply to HyroGlyphIQ [2009-01-06 22:54:47 +0000 UTC]
Yup, just sketch more and get a feel for movement as hair and smoke are pretty much in the same boat. Make sure you sketch looser than normal when doing hair and always keep direction of flow in mind

Sketching takes a lot of practice so that's why I keep telling everyone to SKETCH. Keep doing it and figure it out, it'll come to you in time, just have fun doing it

i guess my question is are these characters you've done before? Or are these just random ideas you're putting on paper?
Excellent work and so fluid.
Is the video sped up a little?

do you have ideas in mind when you make these sketches or are they just random folk that have no background and are just for the sketchin skills?

I always find you tutorials fun and informing, I noticed that the bulk of you work on deviant are pencil line art pieces. I love that you shad the line art in. Which leads me to my questionβ¦I am doing a little comic for a friend for fun and have just been doing line art with no shading so I can ink it after word. Can I do like you, and give the line art shading in pencil then ink over that?
Thanks!
Jason

Very cool, I cant do that. something about my personality I cant loosen up when I'm drawing, I enter some weird trance where time becomes irrelevant 6 minutes or 6 hours it feels the same to me.

My favorite part about this is the rhythm of your drawing and the sound of the hard lead against the paper. I mean, I like the drawing itself just fine but...the groove you're in is fantastic.
