Description
The CF-127 Wasp was developed as a light support fighter to fill in some of the holes presented by the CF-123 main fighter (a medium to large fighter). While the CF-127 lacks things like durable armour, endurance, and has a limited armament payload, it makes up for that in manoeuvrability and is relatively easy to maintain. It has been successfully marketed for close-ship protection and as the main fighter on colonies.Loadout:
Fixed head/nose laser, 8 hardpoints
Optional: Gun Pod, Stealth Weapon Pod (mounted opposite Gun Pod), 2x Long Range Missile or Small Stealth Weapon Pod, 2x Medium Range Missile, 2x Side-Winder type missile (wing tips), optional FAST Packs
Design-wise, this is based on the F-18 series of fighters (admittedly my second one, but this one much more closely matches the image source). I lot of creativity was put into this one, partially due to trying to retain as much of the F-18 look in Fighter form as I could, and deliberately trying to avoid some of the conventions with Variable Fighter design - namely the aircraft's nose becoming the shoulders and backpack (!), giving the engines nozzles that look like the ones on the F-18, and having the parts that become the feet double as airbrakes in the Fighter form.
Perhaps because I "broke the mold" so much with this one, I am quite satisfied with it. Alas, as a sub-mecha, its design is not as simple to draw as I would have liked.
EDIT: there's actually 2 designs: the single seater CF-127A, and the two-seater CF-127B (only the upper left Fighter, and bottom center Battroid [the elongated torso with additional sensor]).

Indeed. Not to mention the Super Hornet's air intakes (they're easier to draw repetitively).
Nevertheless, cosmetics aside, there's the CF-18's (more correctly CF-188) CF as Canadian Forces = CF-127's CF as Changeable Fighter pun.
