Description
Here's a biggish painting on canvas of Rorschach with his grappling gun.I did a video tutorial of this which can be seen on YouTube:
[link]
It's my first attempt so it's not great but I need to get used to it.
The quality is CRAP, but still you get an idea of how I work. The music is one from YouTube's playlist because apparently using Philip Glass's ' Prophecies' violates copyright (naughty me!)
Anyway it took ages to record, edit and upload...oh God, the uploading!!!!
It's acrylic as usual.

Thanks mate. Ahh, the horror of video recording, but as much as I complain, I really enjoyed doing it.

Thank you mate
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Hopefully in my next one, the quality will be far better and I'll add notes about what I'm doing to make it a bit clearer.

Thank you so much. It was a great challenge to do that particular pose. Most of the time I just paint faces

That painting's AMAZING - especially how you were even able to include the spacing in the grates on that picture (the lines in the drain, er, whatever it was. )
That's freaking amazing though!!

Cheers mate. Hey, thanks for your comments on the vid I knew you had to be a fellow deviant. There was only a moment of paranoia that occured XD
It's a pain that you couldn't see me working on the grate in the video...the quality just wouldn't allow. However, at great expense (for me) I'm getting a new camcorder today so hopefully some detail will be seen on the next vid.
The grate was just parallel lines with highlights on some sections and brushed over watery black acrylic for other sections.

Just a moment? Hmm... Seems like I'm not doing a good enough job then.
But yes, hopefully you'll do more painting tutorials (whatnot), and, as you've mentioned in youtube... I might be able to see how you draw a Joker painting!! Yeee!!
*goes ballistic, throwing anything in the air that's within arm's reach* Sorry that you had to spend extra money on buying your own, and couldn't just borrow a friend's camcorder - that's good, mind you.
I just don't get how you do it though. Honestly, when I look back on most of my art, I don't know how I did it either, but still- AMAZING!!

OMG I can't believe you did that in acrylic! I would die! Yup, I'm an all oil girl myself, and I am very VERY impressed by your ability, not just with the medium, but in general. Good show!

Ahh, cheers. I really don't know how to use any other medium. I have tried oil but I always seem to end up with more paint on myself than the canvas XD
Thank you so much for the lovely comment.

XD The blurriness was achieved with the most inexpensive tool I own: my fingers. Great for blurring purposes

The shiny bits on the gun are so cool looking! And the background is amazing; it looks like a realistic watercolor.

I used my fingers to smudge a lot of the greys and whites on the gun-give it that blurry effect. My hands are usually all over a picture when I paint it XD
Cheers! The background does have a kind of watery quality to it, which was fun to paint.

yyyeeesss i was hoping you would paint this
this is the background to my phone
really well painted; I like how your paintings are really slices of the moment...I don't know how to explain it but take it as a compliment

And I did
I covet your phone. I have a mobile that doesn't work. I'm one of those wierd people without mobile phone but now I know you can get a Rorschach background on 'em, I want to use it again
Thank you for the lovely comment. It's a copy of a still but with a painting you can always add things that make it slightly different.

When I saw the still for this I knew that one day I would paint it...then the whole 'hey I know, I should make it a more stressful experience by filming the painting' occurred, but I have to say, I'd do it again.
And will

You do very well with angles! I like how the gun is out of focus as it gets closer. very realistic. nice shadowing too

The gun was a bit of a pain re: blending and such but using the blending finger technique it rendered a lot easier
I wouldn't be happy if I didn't paint shadows
