Description
Here's a biggish painting on canvas of Rorschach with his grappling gun.I did a video tutorial of this which can be seen on YouTube:
[link]
It's my first attempt so it's not great but I need to get used to it.
The quality is CRAP, but still you get an idea of how I work. The music is one from YouTube's playlist because apparently using Philip Glass's ' Prophecies' violates copyright (naughty me!)
Anyway it took ages to record, edit and upload...oh God, the uploading!!!!
It's acrylic as usual.

Everytime I see something with Rorschach I make the same squeeing noise.
Seriously though, how could you not love Rorschach-loveable psycho vigilante that he is.
I AM NOT LOVEABLE!
Many would disagree Walter dear Now let me dry your tears with my knickers XD

You should do a tutorial with the joker. Maybe make the canvas smaller, bring the camera closer so we can see the details, and add in notes and things so we can understand the techniques you are using.
The reason I say the joker is because you would blow all the other joker tutorials away ^_^

My, you are a psychic deviant you are XD
My next tutorial WILL be of the Joker. I already have a pic saved of him that I'm gonna use.
That's a good idea about the scale. I'll also be changing the canvas position in my room to try and capture more light and better colour.
Oh and thank you for your comment on the vid, truly appreciate it and you have some great ideas and tips. Cheers for that.

Thank you ^ ^
I watch a lot of people, but I think I learn a lot more from you than I do from everyone else.
This ([link] ) Is my only piece in acrylics so far, and I honestly don't even know what I'm doing with them. I need to take a class, or get some help from someone. It would be cool if you and I could work together but there are so many things that would make that nearly impossible it's probably not even worth it.
I have an enormous store of joker references, sitting around waiting to be used. I even have some pictures that aren't from the movie :/ So if you ever need one, contact me ^ ^
So that tutorial would REALLY really help if I knew what the heck you were doing so then I could try it too ^ ^
By the way, this is my only decent joker picture if you'd like to critique it for me that would be cool soo I know what to work on next time
([link] )
Sorry about the freakishly long message ._.

Thank you so much
If I was to give any advice at all about using acrylics and just drawing in general is: do it every day and look at your refence pic (if you use one) as much as is humanly possible.
I'm not great to work with, I suffer from bouts of Lazyitis and I can change my mind at a stroke. If I worked with me, I'd probably throttle me XD
I have quite a collection of Joker images, it has to be said. The one I have in mind is great for a tutorial though...it's just the face and shoulders and a hand. (interrogation scene...you probably know of the image I speak of.)
I'm rubbish at critiques although I can give it a go.

Believe me, I'm a vary lazy artist too. Not only that, but the fact that the chances of us living remotely near each other is VERY slim, the fact that we barely even know each other doesn't help our chances any either, and you are probably a lot busier than I am, becoming now a sophomore in High school.
Right now I'm working on an 11 x 14 piece, the part where Joker crashes the mob discussion and shows off his little "Magic trick". I found a still where he is waving his hand above the pencil after having stabbed it into the table.
It's very... Loosely based on the reference. I can never get him to look exactly like the references I use, if any at all :/
And thank you. It means a lot that you're taking you time to do this for me

This is so amazing. I'm so amazed at the detail you have in the sidewalk and Rorschach himself and completely in awe that you did it all with acrylic.

sullen-skrewt In reply to dyingsoul2008 [2009-06-11 14:41:15 +0000 UTC]
The sidewalk was a huge amount of fun to do. There's an abstract quality about it. I splattered some of the paint on and managed to get it all over my computer moniter :/
Thank you. I love acrylic and I can't really use any other medium without weeping in frustration.

Definite FAV from me!

Ta mate!
The background actually has a lot more colour and texture than is shown in the slighly blurry pic above. It's almost abstract
The only other painting of mine I can think of which has that DOF effect is Hannibal Lecter. I think it's fabulous for paintings-for a start you can fit the entire body on the canvas which would be difficult without the birds-eye angle.
Cheers

Well, the speed does make it look easier than it is. The time between was mixing paints, layering, painting over any mistakes-all of which had to be left out to make the video shorter!
I really do wish I could paint that quick though XD

Well, the video is a first attempt. I actually used my big easel as a makeshift tripod for the camera XD Which is why I had to work on the smaller easel on the desk.

The angle is unusual and I wanted to try and attempt to paint it along with the foreground (gun) being blurred.

I love the fact that the gun is blurred, it really gives you the feeling that it's actually really close.
Oh, i also loved the video. :3
