7/6/17: Fixed a stray bubble & added another view of how each feather looks with coverts attached, hope that helps clear up some confusion.

I'm planning on making myself some raven wings for All Hallows Eve, and I was wondering if you had advice for how I should do the pivot point. I'm not going to make them out of cloth and wire (I think that would take me way too long) so my thought is to do them out of reinforced poster board. Because of this the pivot point will be different, and won't have the bolt. Do you think that a strong chord or rope would work instead? Also, I'm very curious to see how you've done the arm coverings.

Ah yes, a slightly stiffened rope or cord will work, and I can vouch for the potential of paper/poster board feathers, made a set myself out of hot glue & wire (still used the sandwich principle, only instead of paint used hot glue). though with the paper the shaft needn't be as long, only enough to attach to the pivot point, the rest holds up pretty well on its own.
I'll have to go look at how I did it again...
