ok sorry i was a little harsh, but step 5 fails, sorry, but thats where normal folks have no clue what's going on

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

MacBlodFod [2010-01-27 18:46:57 +0000 UTC]

what the **** is people talking about? this dosent work. but that's mostly beacuse it dosent make any sense, espesally wen it say, go to Blur>gauission>Blur.
what the hell, what dose that mean? their's a million places where that option could be, ofcourse i checked the layers, the shadow just over laps all youve made, so why change it to 100. and move the shadow down, what difirence dose it make its so thind and bland their whould be no difirence other then a white hole.

Superiorgamer In reply to MacBlodFod [2010-01-27 19:29:23 +0000 UTC]

correction it says blur>gaussion blur> 100.

What I meant by that is to go to filter, then to blur, then to gussian blur, and change the only setting to 100 and then hit "okay" or whatever to proceed. Forgive me, I would revamp this if I actually had the file still.

wow this is a very useful tutorial!
your very good at explaining things (better than other tutorials)
i just have one question
im up to the part where i have to use layer settings. and ive set the shadow layer transparent (like you said) and set ATM layer to screen, however when i go to 'layer' i cant open the layer settings from it
i was wondering if you knew why this would be caused?? (and not much use if i cant open layer settings XD)
i only have the very basic PS E6 so whether thats anything to do with it, idk...

Superiorgamer In reply to sigma-the-dragon [2009-11-30 20:09:19 +0000 UTC]

Elements is complicated with the layer setting. The reason why is because adobe wants to make your life miserable so didn't include layer settings in ps elements for the most part. The layer settings that you do have are glow, shadow... and a few others depending on what version of elements you have. When I owned elements 5, I did have the glows needed for the planet and there was a button I could press in order to enable the layer settings. However, the interface and location was completely different then adobe photoshop cs1,2,3,4... So, my best advice to you would be to look around on layer options for it. I don't use PS E5 so I can't quite remember where it was located. You could also use the gradient tool for the glows. Hope that helps abit? =/ , just download the cs1,2,3,4 adobe trail.

sigma-the-dragon In reply to Superiorgamer [2009-12-02 18:50:35 +0000 UTC]

ok, its not that i cant find the layer settings,
its just i cant click it so it wont open.
Ive done everything on your tutorial only when
it comes to going to the layer settings it JUST WUNT OPEN
stupid PS...anyway, ill take your advise and i might
D-load CS4 instead so that will probably sort it,
but ill just look around the layer options and see if
i can open it another way. And i will TRY to use gradients aswell.
thanks for your help XD soz about that!

Can any layer styles download work? since I have elements it doesn't have any

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Superiorgamer In reply to Guyver89 [2009-07-25 19:57:16 +0000 UTC]

That is a problem with photoshop elements. I believe I might have actually made this piece in elements. In photoshop elements 4, they brought in minor layer styles. Most people don't know about them and I forgot how exactly to do them. These layers styles include drop shadow, bevel, and glow. Hence, making this tutorial possible in elements. However, again, i'm sorry but I don't remember how to bring up the layer styles. You could try googling layer styles in elements.

Guyver89 In reply to Superiorgamer [2009-07-27 19:19:03 +0000 UTC]

Dont worry I got it to work, but I had to make it a different way since some of the options for Layer styles menu you have arent there.

how did you make your nebulus?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Superiorgamer In reply to PhotoshopSavior [2009-06-05 00:57:12 +0000 UTC]

Nebulas are difficult and there are numerous numerous methods on how to make them. However, I must warn you that they can be quite challenging even for me to make. Try searching for nebula tutorials on deviantart to explain the process.

Thanks for the Tutorial!

About the Gaussian Blurr it's 10,0 or 100,0?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Superiorgamer In reply to SturmvogelPrime [2009-04-06 23:05:16 +0000 UTC]

most likley 100. However, the rule of thumb is always do what looks best.

thx for this great tuto
I have a problem with the shadow !After applying the gaussian blur I tried to move the SHADOW layer but it doesn't appear like yours there is like a straight line at the top of the circle .like I move all the frame or some thing like the borders .hope you understand
sorry for the bad english

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Superiorgamer In reply to DeSiGn-LoVeR [2010-02-15 03:49:07 +0000 UTC]

its because your canvis size must be to small. Try this

open a new photoshop file, make the canvas 2000/2000, and then make your planet around 1000/1000 and then try bluring it. You should have no frame lines if you do that.

The other option is to use the gradient tool to create a shadow, that works fine also infact its what I always use now. Or, you can brush it in yourself with a black brush at low opacity.

DeSiGn-LoVeR In reply to Superiorgamer [2010-02-15 20:30:34 +0000 UTC]

Thx a lot but it works now I've just moved it then blured it
but now another problem shows up

how to clone brush and i didn't get this step well

shall we fit the texture to the planet or to the whole layer ?

I know I've been asking more and getting boring you .sorry guy

a-random-person2 [2008-10-18 06:05:17 +0000 UTC]

do you also have to make a back ground layer?
Also, what type of flash do you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Superiorgamer In reply to a-random-person2 [2008-10-18 16:49:49 +0000 UTC]

A backround layer? Umm... I would say yes. I had about 10-15 backround layers in additon to layers infront of the planet. I'm not quite sure what your refering to.

The flash? As I mentioned that is a lens flare.

First, fill the canvis with black in a new layer. Next, go to filter at the top bar> then to render> then to lensflare and choose one that suits you and hit okay. Next take your lens flare layer and set it to screen.

Superiorgamer In reply to jsjb2004 [2008-10-17 15:58:00 +0000 UTC]

You can't find gussian blur? I would show you, but its different on all versions of photoshop..

Anyways, this SHOULD be the location.

Go to the top menu and find filter> then under the filter go to blurs> and under blurs you should see gussian blur.
