Description
I took a bunch of photos for Laura during the first trimester of her pregnancy. Now, she's just getting into her 6th month, so we had to hurry to get these done. We decided to include Gary in a couple of these as well, since he helped to make her this way.My usual male portrait is side-lit. My usual female portrait is front-lit. Can we do both at the same time? Hmmm....

why do they look so ... disconnected? if he were looking down.... and she either had her eyes closed and her head against his chest.... or was also looking down... the photo would be awesome....

this is an incrediably sweet picture. i think it's my most favourite of them all And funnily enough, one of my supervisors at the library is pregnant (just a little bit so far) and has a picture of her husband and her on her desk that is much like this (only fully clothed..and she's looking at him not the light..but still.)
she should have a belly on her when i see her next pregnancy is so exciting!

it's nice that you have included the man in the picture. usually everyone likes to get so wrapped up in the woman during the pregnancy, the man usually takes a backseat. of course, unless he just knocked some girl up and left, then he is payed attention to, but in a negative way.
nice job!
best wishes, and looking forward to future work.

Of course its possible if your Kevin.. Nice way of taking your styles and mixing them. The smaller version of the shot i was wandering what was above the belly cause it looked on then i noticed it was gary's arm.. So is there going to be shots of the baby? once he/she is born.. have a whole post-trimester series.

I'm sure we can arrange some shots of the baby. That's funny... post-trimester series!

I love these kind of photos. You have the whole family there. Personally I loved having my babies with me wherever I went when I was pregnant. There is no other bond like that of mother and fetus. I hope to see more of these.

Yeah the lighting is, as usual, perfect. Good that you experimented with two-sided lighting. I also agree with Mary that her husband touching her is a great idea, makes it more sensual. I think what's lacking is the visibility of her stomach. I can't wait to see it from a different point of view to compare with the 1st trimester.

Thanks man. I was backed up against the wall and couldn't get any more into the shot. But I totally agree that it would have been better with a wider view. I have several more I'll be posting soon.

Thanks. That was a big challenge for me. The color of the wall is actually quite yellow, so I had to direct the light carefully away from the wall to make it look more brown. I'm happy you noticed!

The 2-directional lighting is awesome. Very subtle, yet has a definite impact. The guy looks like he's having second thoughts, though.

Great call on the lighting - I like how her face is fully lit and his is half in shadows. Very dramatic.

they are beautiful together..kinda a dual thing going on..his arms wrapped around her..both their hands on her growing tummy he looks like he is trying to 'hear' the little one thru his hands..very touching.

I think the lighting is definately beautiful. The skin tone is very pleasing and looks so soft. I like her expression but he looks a tad stiff.

Good photo. I wish that I could see her belly better, the shape, form, shadows, and how it relates to the other parts of her body. Although I like the two of them together, I would like to see one of just her as well.
