Description
This is another of my Femme Elemental series, studying femininity and sensuality. As usual, I'm concentrating on the semi-abstract curves of the female form. My beautiful model Lindsay was kind enough to let me spray her with this light, oily stuff that made her skin shiny, then water to make the nice little droplets. Light is provided by a single softbox from behind.Related content

yeah you can do wonderful things with just a single softbox. just think of how great some things look by the light of one window in a room. it's the exact same thing.

As usual the lighting and setup is simply fabulous. I like the setup of the softbox towards the back, as the shadows create sort of a gradient along her back. I'd love to see this in black/white.
I also like the way you've set the composition up in this one. The way her back arches from one corner to the other is simply... well not to be chauvinist I'll just say it fits the gist of your Femme Elemental series

Just to add, I've seen a similar series before, maybe you've heard of it. Female Landscapes or something like that where the photographer uses small action figures and utilizes the female body as a landscape? The shadows and setup in this one reminded me of it...

This is a perfect shot and grea imagination behind it with the water and oil not sticking to her just sitting there for a the nice glisten to the skin...ok is it just me or does this pic look upside down ..I mean is that not her cute lil hinny on the top right hand side of the picture>>??

There really are few shapes as fascinating as the human form - both female and male. Females forms are about subtle flowing curves, sensuality, which this shot shots really nicely. The oil has given a really neat textural counterpoint to the skin, a bit like blistering (take that how you will!), or bark on a tree from a distance.

gorgeous--i never would have though that was water and oil on her. it looks like a different texture, almost like a mixture or water and sand to me. none the less it's a great idea, and i love the angle you shot this at. makes the viewers eyes go right down the entire image. beautiful work as always there kevin.

wow, I love this, you can sort of tell it's a human form, but not which way is up, and the trick with the water and oil is very cool, gives an amazing texture to it, almost like tree bark.

with the intense black on one side and intense white on another - you almost do not realize its human form until you say so - it could be something manmade almost - the hair/water texture and all - almost like a plastic
