Description
I was going to eat this, but it looked too good.
So, taking some inspiration from *nighty 's new lighting techniques, I put it in my Coleman cooler, strategically sprayed it down with some water, and fired off a few shots. Light is provided by two Vivitar 283 flash guns.

i like the large white space to the left of the picture. you've capured the color and little speckles well. i like the pool of water the pear seems to be sitting on. like its floating in a reflecting pool in some enchanted place. it seems a little light to me though and the edges of the pear aren't as crisp as i'd like. it seems to fade into the white background a little. neat image even though i dislike pears.

way to make me uber hungry. never looked so closely at a pear. they have ufn colours. makes me want to eat it. yum yum yum. but no pears in house, only apples

negative space of brilliant white is fabulous for this - it offers even more clarity on the great detail on the fruit - i love its position and h ow the stem just almost reaches/nudges the edge

i like how the lighting turned out. there is a weird brown/blurry spot in the middle of it, but i dont know if that's from the pear itself or the lighting. mm... delicious

Argh. Downsizing and JPG-izing (if that's a real word) this photo made that brown spot more pronounced. It's actually a protrusion on the pear that takes it slightly out of the depth of field. As I eat this pear (which doesn't taste as good as it looks) I curse it! Hehe.

That is awesome. Inside the Coleman cooler? What a great idea for a small studio in white... I never even thought of that, even though A Shot Of Green was taken on top of a Coleman cooler.
Back to the subject matter, this is a wonderful photo. The use of water really brings the standard piece of fruit to life, something I've noticed myself during photo experiments. The lighting is wonderful, as the background just fades away and yet there's a small shadow under the pear. Color is fantastic as well.
Thanks for the idea with the cooler. I just wish I had some decent photography lighting to use with it.

You really should go into advertising. I mean, look at this shot! It looks like one of those ads that you see in magazines. The lightning worked out in a very cool way, and the water adds an element of freshness
