Wow.

Tausend Dank fΓΌr dein Kommentar.

Dude.... this is amazing! I've been planning a similar work over the past few months, for my HSC major art work. I want to use about 30 boards, 8x11inches.... but have small gaps in between them.... and an overall rectangle shape when they're all assembled. Photos, painting, printing, stencilling, collage, assemblage.... and lots of material more assosiated with construction than art, like concrete for texture, scrap metal and timber. And then all that other stuff that works well at creating layers and textures, like coffee and paper-mache. It's going to be focusing on urban environments.... so I want to depict things like graffiti, rust, street signs etc etc etc

Anyway, as I was saying.... this is a really great piece! It's awesome looking at it in full view and just taking in every single panel.

I kind of laughed at everyone getting so hung up about the semen too. My art class is pretty closed-minded when it comes to art materials ("You used bandages and x-rays? CRAZY!" ) They still make a big fuss everytime Manzoni's canned shit or Serrano's 'Piss Christ' is brought up.

Anyway, I think it's a good idea, adding something so personal to your artwork like that.

Keep up the good work Johannes

ahhhhhhh....dude.... stunning orchestration of scattered fragments of human emotion, development, perception and cultural influence......the detail is awesome and reflective, bulging with texture and sheer enormity...one the best mixed media pieces i have ever seen...you are able to skilfully and artisticly combine random and chosen images into a visual story of depth and character.....truely a pleasure to see your work

It's pretty improbable that I'll do a show in the US within the next 10 years. I have some contacts in NYC, but it's hard to get the stuff together, find a gallery etc.

has anyone told you are insane yet my friend? that is brilliant stuff. I love the effect of the newspaper because it keeps in a memory, a record of history. And butterfly wings, thats just there you know? Ha. Like how you have the lil chinese going on there. I also like how it progresses from the brownish coffee to the more yellerish.. y'know? *flee* good luck!

I think this is really neat, the only thing is there doesn't seem to be much in the way of transition between the writing and the painting.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

swelements In reply to Aurora-Storm [2005-03-17 07:58:01 +0000 UTC]

The transition between writing and painting... Do you mean the overlay isn't smooth enough or don't you see any connection points?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Aurora-Storm In reply to swelements [2005-03-17 13:49:16 +0000 UTC]

Maybe it's just the way I'm looking at it, but I don't see any connection points.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

swelements In reply to Aurora-Storm [2005-03-17 16:05:44 +0000 UTC]

Well it's the process of the panels towards each other - how they fade from one element to another. You must go figure - or maybe just don't look at images like I do. Which is nothing bad at all.

Looks alright to me, I'm no art critique so I dont really appreciate abstract art too much but I must say this is quite pleasing.

Have you considered rearranging the 24x2 squares into perhaps 8x6 just for the small preview pic? Just a thought.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

swelements In reply to BenJoffe [2005-03-17 07:59:31 +0000 UTC]

I had it 8x6, but it takes away attention from every single panel this way. If you arange it 1x48 or 2x24, the viewer can fully appreciate every singel panel without scrolling to much or the like. Thanks for your ideas anyway.
