whew, I'm so glad I have a little extra time to work on trades and get some of the longer overdue ones out of the way x.x;trade with ~DraggyCat ! the challenge was to draw a scene in a screenshot-like style (since we're animators!) and she picked the Aesop's fable The Fox And The Grapes, but asked me to give it an African twist. So fun! I picked a bat-eared fox because I saw them once on Animal Planet and fell in love. And cape gooseberries for the 'grapes' because... well. they're pretty eyecatching!
I'm really happy with how this came out. o.o I think I may be getting better with backgrounds after all.

YUSH!!!! *high-five* i am so glad you went with the bat-eared fox after all, that's just what i was crossing my fingers for from the start!! X) poor little guy... he is sooo cute! first i love the innocent feel to this character as opposed to the resentful attitude of the traditional aesop fox. i also love the whole worm's-eye view. makes those dreamy-looking berries appear high as the sun and way up on that pedastal! xD and they're surprisingly attractive, i've actually never heard of cape gooseberries before seeing this piece. so in a nutshell i like all your choices regarding this drawing! X) it's just such a precious screen shot and looks like a beautiful little film for telling this fable to small children. soft and dreamy backgrounds seem great for that stuff. xD i hereby anticipate seeing what you produce in finished animated form (cel chading FTW, if only i had the skill and restraint it takes to do it xD)

sweet fox, those flowers seem to drive terror into his heart...just joking! that background is actually very pretty. can`t draw flowers to save my life

It really looks like a screen shot from a movie, I love the angle and lighting, it reminds me a bit of Plague Dogs or Watership Down style.
