I love to drawwww with ballpoint! (And I think I may have just lost the one that became my favourite one after I lost my first favourite one. bloody hell.)I don't know if this is apparent to anyone who isn't actually watching my scraps but I've been making small forays into stylization. With the hounds that I've been drawing for years I feel comfortable enough with the anatomy to start playing a bit with it. It's fun! So yeah expect to see more of that, I think it's only going to evolve more the more I draw.
Anyhow. Mainly some Penny and Wings and random hound heads. Also in there are two new characters for MG, Valentino the IG and Meggy the MinPin, and some fun drawings of Bella with her tooth poking up out of her lip, it's so funny and cute whenever that happens. xD
All characters belong to me.

I don't know for sure what brand mine are - I have several kinds - but I love 'em! The Zebra ones are good. I like to nab the free ones they use for promotions at events and things like that. xD for some reason they draw the best!

Duuude your ballpoint drawings never cease to amaze me~~ <3 I love to doodle with pens, but I usually do more scribbling out than anything.. xD Lawl.
Awh, I love that little minpin.. :333 She looks so cute, but proud~ And the face nearest the upper right-hand corner is great.. <3 The angle gives his (?) face this rounded, innocent look that tugs me heart. D:
Arghhhh and Bella is absolutely adorable~~! xDDD She reminds me of a crocodile with that little tooth~~~~

BUT I LOVE YOUR DOODLEZ. seriously yo. And I used to have to scribble out as well - heck I still do. Look there, I had to scribble out two drawings of Bella's tooth I didn't like. And keep in mind that this is after almost three years in animation school! I definitely couldn't have done anything like this when I was 15 or 16. >.>
YAY that is what she is like. xD She's a character I made randomly for adoption on MG but I might keep her after all, just for the heck of it. :3 That head is supposed to be my Wings as a younger dog. I'm glad you like him even though I don't - the proportions bug me. :B Bella is very cute yes, and her snaggletooth look always makes me laugh so I had to do a tribute. And 'sad whippet' is my Soliloquy. :3 I don't blame you for not recognising her though - was trying a more stylised look for her and while I don't think I'm keeping that I am pleased with the result.
Honestly I do think my art was pretty generic-looking up till this point. Unless you actually took the time to study the details and tiny tweaks (since really no two people draw EXACTLY alike) I still took more cues from realism. I think it's because nature just fascinates me so much, I think every animal and person is just beautifully designed in its own way that I just feel like I have to replicate it exactly! xD But yeah lately I've been playing with proportion and exaggeration in my whippets and dogs since I've been drawing them so long I don't need to reference them so heavily anymore. And so far I really like the directions that they're going!
As for your own style - don't worry, it'll find you with time. Just drawing from my own personal experience and what I have heard from others, style is not something you should be looking for - it'll come out in what you do because everyone sees and draws things differently. Just keep drawing, keep yourself open to a variety of styles rather than just one artist, draw from life a lot, and eventually you'll find where you are. Look at me, I've been drawing my whole life and I don't even think I've scratched the surface of 'my style'! Style is also something that evolves and grows as you do, so that is also not something that is static. I think a lot of people these days use "BUT ITZ MY STYLE LOL" as an excuse for bad drawings - sorry, but it's true. You have to get the basics down first and understand them before you start 'finding a style' - it's putting the cart before the horse if you focus on style before you even understand the foundation of anatomy! As long as you keep practicing and experimenting every so often, you'll keep learning and growing and your style will develop too.
(I'm sorry. that is a lecture I like to give people. >.>; *hides*) THANK YOU.

Ooh, and I forgot to mention this, but I love the sad whippet's pose, too.. (x The angular look to his/her body and muzzle add a lot of personality.
I really commend you for working for stylization.. <3 Though I thought your art was pretty stylized already (aside from like perfect knowledge of muscles and proportions xD), I can see some tweaks in different directions going on.. : DD It's really lovely~
Lawl, I need to find my own style sometime.. I've really been focusing on the mechanical aspects of it, like anatomy, because for years I observed artists like VanillaKitsune and tried to draw more like them. x_x And thennn in my efforts to get closer to them, I pretty much had my hopes/confidence crushed and didn't do any serious art for a while. I didn't even really realize it until I looked through some old accounts for now-and-then comparison arts, and couldn't find.. anything. o_o Uh.. yeah.. I think I lost my point somewhere. D:

It also means a lot that you love my Wings and Penny! The pair of them have become very dear to my heart so it always makes me happy when I hear that other people like them too. :3 And ballpoint pen is awesome because not only do the pens and me work really well together, you can get them dirt cheap from any stationery shop. xD
um. I miss your art and your RP. D: I hope we get to 'hang out' more over the summer, prelude to us 'hanging out' in real life finally I guess? xD still so excited by the way!

Ha Yes, I've been watching you for a while so I'm familiar with the way you do things, so I notice little tweaks you make with style. Like I said, I'm enjoying watching you play with your drawings--aside from it being completely cool to see your understanding become so solid you can explore, it's somehow endearing to me. XD Like you've reached another level of drawing, and also another level with your characters. *can not WAIT to see Swift's sketches in personnnn*
I understand! It's always such a great feeling to know when people love your characters, and I do, I love seeing Penny and Wings-- hound or human! I've been thinking about using pens for gestures in my Figure Drawing class, but I just haven't yet. I get into comfortable media, and it's hard to pry myself out of it again. XD Ack, I know! I haven't been able to RP in a long time, but hopefully I'll get back into the groove at some point. MG especially has suffered my absence-- unfortunately Alu is too busy to re-kindle our thread with Sal and Cail. If you want, we could start a thread with Cari and Pudding (and if a thread's going on with her and her kittens, tell me and I'll jump in). As far as art, I've uploaded something small today. Hopefully we will be able to 'hang out' this summer (hopefully I'll have a job, but hopefully it won't get in the way. I hope, I hope, I hope lol). BTW, I'm going to BE IN New York August 23rd. 8D

And it means a whole lot that you've been watching me that closely! Much appreciated. :3 I've been enjoying watching you develop, too. We shall have much fun drawing together yesssss.
Well I do enjoy your Brandy and Zelenn and Avice, so I guess it all evens out! Ack yeah I completely understand not wanting to leave your comfort zone. It's not an easy thing to do. But hey - you'll have opportunities for experimenting when you go to college! Being in a classful of creative people can be tremendously stimulating, and my entire freshman year was like that. I guess it's a good thing for me that these days any one plane that I happen to be stuck on gets boring after a while! (except straight-up drawing, I'll never get tired of that. But even there I do like to vary technique and such.) I still have to work more with paint and ink wash though - ink especially intimidates me because it's completely foreign territory. Still I've painted before with acrylics and wasn't bad at it, and I've done some 'gesture paintings' in my figure drawing class that I'm really quite happy with, so maybe I could use one to ease myself into the other.
Alu is going to be a married lady! I can't get over that still, I'm so thrilled for her. I actually do have a thread with Cari and the babies in the Neighbourhoods currently. Whisp and I are in the process of RPing out Popcorn's adoption, so she's there RPing the owners as well as him. I've been playing Pudding myself up to that point, but you can jump in with her if you want to, by all means. We can even discuss RPing out Pudding's adoption, if not in that thread then in another after that one's over. Let me know, we can talk about the details. I'll hopefully have a job this summer too, but yes I do hope we get to talk a bit too.
Oh yes - for orientation. Exciting times!! Go see lots of Broadway shows, you'll get to do that for free in orientation! I saw the Phantom on Broadway freshman year, and it was amazing. They'll also have plenty of tours of New York and museums and the like, so take advantage of that too. SVA students also get into the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum for free, orientation or no. I'll be in the city by September 1st most likely, after all the excitement has died down, so maybe we can arrange to meet up sometime after that. If you let me know what block you've chosen and what teachers you have I can arrange to drop in on your animation classes. xD

Drawing together. I'm counting the days. XD It feels like I've hit a "lame-duck" point in my life now that I'm waiting to go to New York; it's like everything will start when I get there. Were you nervous or excited when you learned you were going?
I think I've mentioned to you before that wet media scares the daylights out of me, so I'm sort of right there with you on needing to work more with paint and ink wash! The last time I used acrylic paint was sophomore year in high school. Yikes. It's been a little earlier than that when I tried my hand at ink-- which I remember liking once I got into it (the part of the drawing I did first was horrid, but then everything got better as I worked. lol I guess it's always that way with new media). I'm inspired to use a pen in Figure Drawing tomorrow, now! You should post the paint gestures zomg! 8D
Eeeee, I'm sorry! You should have poked me about Pudding! Okay, I'll go see if I can jump into the thread today or sometime this week. And sure, we can RP Pudding's adoption after Popcorn's-- although I remember you thinking about Pudding staying with Cari for a little bit, which I do love (we could really flesh out the mother/daughter relationship that way); are you still considering that, or has the joy of motherhood ebbed?
By the way, good luck with the job hunting! I hope you get a position somewhere. Are you looking for art stuff, or just a part-time job? And yes, Alu all grown-up and married. *sniff* I remember when we'd IM and she had her secret crush on Brady. Hee I'm happy for her too, and it's really touching to see her so happy!
OMG! Broadway shows for free?? The WHITNEY MUSEUM for free?? My heart! She stops! So they have groups go to shows during orientation? Speaking of blocks and teachers and classes, I got a registration book in the mail today and so I'm all over it. I'll have to see if I can register online or something, I guess.
LOL I can see you dropping into the animation classes I'm taking-- I'll have all the best tricks since I know an upperclassman.

Oh gosh, I didn't know what to think at all! Especially since it was in a different country too, I didn't really know what to expect. Probably a combination of nervousness and excitement. The thing about New York though is you really do get all types here, so I didn't feel all that out of place. xD
New media is always a challenge, I agree. Yeah, my success with the paint gestures made me feel a lot better about myself. I'll post them if you post your ink adventures!
Eh, I assumed you were busy at the time since I wasn't seeing you around a lot and I didn't want to bother you. and the main point of the thread was for Whisper and Popcorn anyhow so I figured we'd just get on with it. I'd love it if you joined though, what fun. :3 Hey, the Popcorn adoption thread was started in February so technically it's still then in it. If we started a thread now, Pudding would be a few months old already rather than just a few weeks. I'd be fine with her staying a little longer, goodness knows Cari and Beth could use the company. :3 Not to mention I just enjoy the way you play Pudding in general!
I've applied to some animation studios in Singapore and so far I've got two that want interviews, so hopefully I will have a great summer internship in my own country without having to deal with credits and Visa crap! xD And awr, that's adorable to hear about. I still think we should make her come visit us in New York some time while both of us are there!
Yes, there will be a list of activities that you can sign up for and whoever signs up for whatever will go in a group together. I don't know exactly what will be assigned for you guys' class, but when it was my class we had various shows, museum tours, 'food tours' of certain areas of NYC, and even tickets to a Mets game! I'm sure there'll be a nice variety to choose from. Possibly the most exciting time of my life was freshman year and I hope you have as good a one as I did. Let me know when you've got all of that sorted out!

Yeah, I can't imagine how you must have felt, especially leaving your country! I have a combination of nervousness and excitement, like you did, too. I'm... worried about missing lots of people.
Ohoho I'd have to dig up my ink adventure (I only did one drawing with them, admittedly, since it was an assignment to use them, and I didn't use them again by choice XD). But if that's a proposition I'm for it-- but it'll be in my scraps.
I go in and out of activity on Mushroom Grove, as I'm sure you're aware of, but I think this time around I started to go missing because I didn't really have a thread to be in, and I'm no good at posting a new one. Other times I'm busy, though, so if you ever start wondering where I am on MG, you're welcome to note me and ask if I need a thread. XD lol But anyway, I've posted in Leaving the Nest if you haven't seen yet, and I'm checking up on it for my next post. ^^ I noticed you mentioned you said you were busy with finals and stuff, so no pressure. And I'm happy to keep Pudding with Cari and Beth for a while!
OH HOLY COW THAT'S FANTASTIC. Some animation studios in Singapore are interested in interviewing you!! That's insanely awesome! You'll have to keep me posted on that! I want to know how all of it goes! 8DDDD Congratulations!

It's hard sometimes, but to me the experience has been worth it, both the good and the bad. I feel like I've learned and grown a lot and come out a wiser person for it.
Oh yeah! You might have to wait a bit for me to post my painty stuff, since I'd like to use my scanner at home. The paper's rather large and I don't want to get in anyone's way. But I'm rather proud of it all so ink adventures or not you'll likely be seeing them eventually.
I've seen your post, yes, and as always you play Pudding completely adorably and I love it. Whisp's not been doing too well lately, though, so if you'd like we could start another thread set in 'resent time' for Beth, Cari, and a slightly older Pudding. :3 Finals and such are coming along and I feel really productive this week, so yay! End of term, I can taste it!
most definitely! It's my first real internship that my parents haven't helped me get or find somehow, so it's exciting for me too. I hope it goes well, I'm rather nervous too.

*sigh* I'm prepared for it to be hard. XD But I think I'll be the same-- the experience is just too exciting. And... well, I wouldn't have stayed at home forever anyway.
YAY I'm looking forward to Swift's painty stuff. Unfortunately, I have to warn you that the ink adventure may remain trapped in obscurity, because I don't have a clue as to where it's ended up. I'll look around, though. It's gotta' be in the closet or somewheres. XD In the meantime, I've finally taken pictures of my figure drawings and assembled them in a massive sketch dump on PS, so ready yourself for the spectacle. I hope to have it up like, today.
I'm sorry to hear Whisper's not doing very well! ): I'm up for starting a brand-new thread with Beth, Cari, and Pudding if you think we should. Just post whenever you can and point me in the right direction when you're ready for me. ^^ I've got the old End of Term taste in my mouth too (part of the reason I'm getting back to you so late. Never seen so many biology questions in my life); I just took my last test today so I'm free as a bird for... the weekend. Then I start work.
I'm sending the strongest good luck vibes I can muster up for you. It's incredibly exciting! I don't blame you for being nervous, either, but I know you're going to impress them to no end.
