Description we were supposed to doodle 'five people sitting around a table', and I end up doing this. I think it serves as proof that I must be homesick on some level. it's also ridiculous how happy it makes me to look at it. I STILL SUCK AT ARMS AND HANDS I KNOW PLEASE DO NOT MENTION THIS.

somehow whenever I set out to draw a random couple it always turns out being my parents. x.x; figure. and the old guy was originally supposed to be the grandfather but I realise that looking at it now he could really be some RANDOM UNCLE that decided to sit with them and COMPRAIN about GAHMEN. xD

(disclaimer in case any of my family happen to stumble on this: kid is NOT based on any of my cousins. >.>; though certain elements might be similar...)

I might colour it eventually. we'll see.

Lol, I like the little kid, he's all like oblivious to everything else except to that big piece of food on his fork. I think you did an outstanding job on individuality of faves and expressions!

Ha! Oh, I love this! It's like a snapshot of a real family.

My favorite is the lady at the far left. She looks like someone I'd sit down and talk with, like one of my own aunts. =]

<3 I love all the little details, like the food, and the sign, and the empty bowls. <3

<3 thank you, that was so how I wanted it to look. and yeah, the idea for the old lady kind of came from my own grandmothers. they always treated us kids well, even when we were brats to them.

I was attempting to draw people sitting at tables doing other things, but it wasn't working. so I went with what I know best. <3

thanks muchly love!

Ahha. Anyway it was at the SGB opening ceremony this friday ([link] ). he looked like he'd just woken up or something. and he didn't iron his shirt either haha. "mr. prime minister sir, would you like a coffee?"

Also the malay lady he gave the laptop to fainted. After he left, of course. Nobody faints in front of the PM!

yeah she's fine. some of our BB primers (read: seniors) went to pray for her. which was good, but 1. she's a muslim, and 2. there were reporters. so all the officers were like 'you did what!?!', which i found very amusing for some reason.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

swift-whippet In reply to misterboring [2007-12-01 16:13:00 +0000 UTC]

hahahah. but seriously, just because people are not Christian means that we shouldn't pray for them? I think that's rubbish. I certainly would be touched if my Muslim or Hindu - or anything else - friends prayed for me, even though I am very much a Christian. it's kind of like the thought that counts, you know?

misterboring In reply to swift-whippet [2007-12-02 12:43:34 +0000 UTC]

No, not that, of course. It's just that they were worried about the media playing it up and whatever nonsense. You know how they and the gahmen are about religious 'harmony'.

swift-whippet In reply to Dalmatinka [2007-11-30 15:13:46 +0000 UTC]

it's not just the classes, though, I really did have to make a choice to expand my repertoire and practice humans, settings and other things. I've been practicing them for a year or more now (even though I never uploaded the results of said practice). I'm a firm believer that attitude and wish to improve and push your own boundaries matters as much as if not more than how good your classes are. I really do enjoy my school though.

Mirta!~ you're going to art college?! congratulations! it's a pity there will be no sea, though. <3 I wish you all the best.

Well I would like to go to biology first and then maybe to Art College
Still not 100% sure though since I'm still in elementary school O-o = P

Thank you Swift and I'm glad you enjoy it there <3

'coffee shop'. in Singapore (and possibly other countries in southeast asia) it basically refers to a public food centre, of which there are many. it might not be pretty (and not particularly clean) but if the food and the company are superb, what's to complain about? it's one of the things I miss most when I'm away.

thank you!

That kid porkin' out makes me giggle. And the grandma reminds me of a lady that used to live next door to me. Her name was Susan; she was a sweetheart.

swift-whippet In reply to kettish [2007-11-30 02:15:31 +0000 UTC]

the younger generation of kids are apparently more and more like that - also note I gave him a fork instead of chopsticks and spoon. grandma is kinda sorta based on my grandma, though she doesn't really look like her. she was always sweet to us kids, even when we were being brats. <3

kettish In reply to swift-whippet [2007-11-30 02:44:15 +0000 UTC]

This lady was like that too. :3 She always made us cookies and stuff. Then she got Alzheimer's and died a few months later. And her husband tried to kill himself by parking his car on a train track. Then that didn't work so he decided to drink himself to death.

...

Um, OK, that was a bit dark. My bad. Her cookies were always amazing.

He got better though, with time. He just needed some time to get support from his family, y'know? And it was a quick death, relative to most Alzheimer's victims. I was always thankful for that.

Haha I LOVE the old man! He really gives me that talkative Singaporean local feel XD His toothy expression is hilarious.

You're good at drawing people of different ages - a lot of artists nowadays seem to only draw young people (hehe...) I also like the interaction between the characters, how the auntie is looking after the kid.

swift-whippet In reply to wolfie-janice [2007-11-29 22:44:54 +0000 UTC]

eee, thanks. <3 yeah that is totally what I was trying to go for really - I miss eating out at food centres with my family and my friends so much when I'm here! I even miss the noise! xD

and yes, I myself was guilty of that not long ago actually. xD but I heard the fact mentioned, and decided to try drawing other ages too. I still fail at drawing kids though, I am trying to design some to animate for my final project and they look WEIRD like shrunken adults or something. D: ah well. practice. xD

thank you again!
