Description
Dedicated to ~ox-of-ice since she requested a painty picture, and I hadn't done one in a while xDAnyhoo. This started off being intended to be a piccy of Sita, which turned into a picture of cub Sita and cub Harimau. There's a story here somewhere.. I think Hari's trying to show off to Sita how he catches fish.
They so cute. The cubs were a colouring experiment for tigers and their stripes which I'm quite happy with. I'm quite happy with the water and rocks, it took me a while to figure out how I'd go about doing it, but I think I royally screwed the grass stuffs that's behind. I don't have the patience to put so much detail into my backgrounds x_X Oh well. Impressionism! heh.
If ANYONE alludes in any way to Rajah/Shere Khan/Lion King/Disney/Don Bluth/WHATEVER, I... will not yell at you. Because I don't yell at people over the internet and only very rarely in real life. But I WILL be very annoyed with you and FEEL very much like yelling at you. I dislike my style being compared to other big-name cartoons. You have been warned. Thank you for reading (I hope.)

Ooh the stripes came out beautifully! And the lock of hair on the darker one (Harimau?) gives so much to the picture. Awesome water too.

Background is pretty good too, specially the water.
A bit more detail in the leafs and it would have been perfect, but I get what you mean on backgrounds XD

sita's my favourite out of your tigers. she's just so perky and excited all the time. while harimau looks as if.. he's clumsy but tries to act cool infront of sita. narf. >.<

Eh, I put that in because of a comment I received on a picture I'd drawn which involved Huskies, which basically said "Wow, that looks like Balto, did you use reference from the movie?". Though I have no doubt the commenter meant to be respectful, and I give them the benefit of the doubt, I was nonetheless quite annoyed. Disney et al have a great amount of respect and admiration from me, but I intensely dislike people saying my characters look like those from big-name films because it took quite an effort to break away from that style and try to invent my own.
Conversely, saying my style looks unique is the biggest compliment you can pay me.. so thank you

Aw thank you. It was brought home again a few weeks ago.. some girl came up to me where I was drawing in animation class and she was like: "OMG, you totally stole me style! That looks just like mine!" and even though I knew she wasn't seriously upset with me or anything I found myself getting quite irritated with the way she put it.
Okay enough about me
Don't give up! If your art starts to look really ugly to you, it's just a passing phase, trust me. Often your style has to pass through an awkward clumsy 'adolescent' phase, I call it, to get to maturity. That's when you're still fumbling around trying to get used to it. But once you do get there.. it rocks, that you can actually look at what you drew and get so giddy going "Wow, I did that!" It's awesome
Also, may I infer from your sig that you're a Christian? Me too!

That's quite funny that we're both dog-lovers (though we both have our sperate breeds lol) and Christians
Yeah I'd say I'm in an ugly, gangly, terribly funny-looking-art-phase. The problem is I have no creativity whatsoever- I can draw from references just fine, but I find SO much trouble in trying to draw for myself. That's the one thing I have really been working on- with little sucess so far- to develope my own style, and stop using SO MANY references

And really, it's okay.. as I said, it's just a matter of practice and getting used to the lines/shapes and how to place them. Everyone has days where everything they draw looks like crap to them, trust me xD Just draw a lot and often.. and you will get better

Omg Swift. Totally awesome water, jungle water looks like that exactly, all murky-brown @__@. And the reflections are very discreete, not overdone as some people do [like... flipping the image over and sticking it there w/o shifting the opacity :s] *touches the moss* the detailzzz!
Ooooh and the tiger cubbies! I think you rendered the stripes very well, and the heads and expressions are wonderful as always. The toes/paws are lovely, and I heart the tail-tips.
I must thank you for dedicating this to me! PLUS I think it's one of my favorite pieces, waaah!

LOL! I figured since Hari was disturbing the water it wouldn't be all mirrory anymore, so I just airbrushed 'n stuffs. heh. The water was hell, I didn't know what colour to make the base. Then I thought "Ooh it would be reflecting the trees so dark green would work!" xD I can't explain how I operate.
