Description
If you need me to tell you to fullview this... you're not particularly bright. There are some projects that appear in my head and I'll think they're awesome ideas, but it takes a jolt or stimulus of some kind to actually galvanise me into action. This was one of them.
I'd watched the Phantom of the Opera movie much earlier in the year and quite enjoyed it, and quite soon after I got the idea of doing a picture of the Phantom and Christine as Umbreon and Espeon Pokemorphs. For those of you who don't know Pokemon, the Espeon and Umbreon are, respectively, the Daylight and Moonlight Pokemon and are often seen as having a yin and yang sort of relationship, since they evolve from the same species as well. So the leap from the day-and-night symbolism in Phantom was pretty much natural as far as my mind was concerned. I really liked the idea but never got around to starting it, and it soon got buried in the dust along with the other ideas I never got around to starting.
THEN I saw Phantom on Broadway, and WOW. It was the most superb performance of anything that I've watched in a very long time, and as it turned out, was just the kick I needed to get this piece finished. and I am so freaking proud of it
Anyway. I don't know what it is with my penchant for Pokemorphs all of a sudden, but this just seemed to fit.
I was going to use refs but Christine's dress didn't like me or my wobbly small tablet so I designed her one of my own. And I ended up guessing and making up Erik's costume too
And for those of you who want to see more scenes from the Pokemon of the Opera, feel free to suggest them to me. (I've decided Raoul shall be a Flarey

I'm not sure to whom The Phantom of the Opera is copyrighted to, since it's been a book, a movie and a musical o_X; But if you think I'm either Gaston Leroux or Andrew Lloyd Webber, then I feel sorry for you.

An idea would be to have more highlights on him. After all, he's solid, not a real shadow. I'll admit that fur can't really reflect much light, but at least the clothes should.
Hope that helps

INSTANT FAVE. I love this! I'm a singer (in addition to being an artist), and ever since I saw the movie I've been singing the songs everywhere. ....wait, I have no clue why I typed that. All well.
The shading is so soft and beautiful in this, and of course your drawings are as lovely as always! The symbolism you put into this is so well thought out and clever. I really look forward to seeing more 'Phantom' pieces from you.
You should make Meg Giry an Eevee if you use her. ^^

Haha, nah, I agree, the songs are beautiful. I'm a fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber's work (as well as musicals in general), and Phantom is one of my favourites
Thanks much for the compliments I look forward to doing more Phantom-Pokemon crossover pieces! I especially enjoyed drawing and painting Christine's espeon form.. her hair is really fun to draw and shade
And LOL, Madame Giry Eevee... xDD Is there any particular reason? 'Cause I wouldn't want to OD on the Eeveelutions..

Uh... I dunno, I just liked the thought of her as an eevee. You don't have to do it, I just thought it would be kind of funny.

Nah, I was just curious as to what sparked the connection. xDD No need to apologise, I wouldn't have felt obligated to do it

Wow thats beautiful. You and your tablet seem to be having a kick ass start to your relationship. I KNOW you two will be very happy together!
I really love the smooth textures on them both, their hair is really nice. I havent seen much pokemorph stuff, but this has definately got me interested.
I love the fact of how much thought you have put into this, people are constantly telling me that I think too much about my stuff, but I think, we think just the right amount!

LOL! I certainly hope so. I find I have to be less slapdash about my pictures now.. it's what comes of having 'inferior' equipment. Makes YOU better
And yeah, I wasn't really into Pokemorphs either, but lately I find I've been doing first Harry Potter and now this! They're surprisingly fun to draw, and all the colours and bits and bobs that Pokemon have on them are fun to translate into anthro form xD
And thank you. Yes, I agree.. some drawings may be just lighthearted fun, but it's always nice to have one or two or more deep pieces that speak to the soul. You keep it up too
