Description
Sure enough, his hope came true, and changing seasons brought with it the promise of renewal and warmth to the Arle Valley, and the Mid Sodor Railway. These promises, however, were false ones as the engines found out when the management began to take further steps to keep their head above water. The six remaining engines were gathered at the sheds, where a large group of men were gathered. Tim, Gerry, and the Mine Engine were seemingly singled out by the group, and some smartly dressed gentlemen and some scruffier ones in overalls looked them over from top to bottom."I really don't like this!" Tim exclaimed. "What if we're closing down! I couldn't bear the thought!"
"Be quiet!" Groaned the Mine Engine. "He's been like this all the way down here." Duke, Stuart, and Falcon could sympathize with him, as they had been wondering why this meeting had been called to order to begin with. The reasons were plain to see for anyone. By the end of the day, the railway's motive power fleet had been halved. Tim, Gerry, and the Mine Engine had all been sold with arrangements in place to have them moved off site. Even after this, the railway's state of affairs did not improve.
