Description
...should have colour instead of color but there wasn't enough letters... <_<A wannabe-tutorial about my lineless coloured pencil drawing... That's why I won't be a good teacher, if I already know how to do something, I can't explain it well... <.>
This is my Bladewing Dragon . Enjoy the dim photos and messy explanations, but hope this may help somebody. |3
...
This is just how I about do that. It's an about theory, reality needs...practicing. <3

Really good and helpful! I've tried sketching in pencil and rubbing out the lines as I colour but that lead to lots of messed up colours so this tutorial has been a great help, thanks!

Just out of curiosity: Do we really need this Blue Hue for any drawing we want to... draw? Or does it depend on what color your character mostly is?
Like one of my character is mostly red with a few black body parts here and there, and golden markings. Since he's mostly red, would I need to use a Red Hue?
One more question: Are hue's color pencils?

Much depends on own likes... If you're not sure what to do, just try everything and look what looks the best. |p
...Yes, this is completely colour pencil work, nothing else used.

I see, thanks for the tip!
All colour pencil work? That is awesome! Are these hues erasable(sp?)?

Thanks for putting this up! It's really helpfull, I cant do the whole digital coloring Your work is amazing as always, but you make a list of what shades you should use? Like when you said you use dark blue for green? It would help me (and maybe some others) alot, if you could.

I think it's up to artist self, I can't say what people should use...

Actually, I find this tutorial very good indeed. You have captured most vital points of the whole process, not to mention how fantastic overall effect turned out to be...
Ahhh, practicing....
If only I could find more time to carry out my own drawings. My experiments with color pencils suck at the time I write this, but I have some hope for better day..

Color, Colour, it's basically the same just one is America's english and the other is England's english, it depends on what you're used too. Finally, I've been waiting this fore ages, Thank you Thank you THANK YOU!!!!! I never would of guess that you would have to sketch with a blue pencil, but wouldn't light blue be better than dark blue for sketching it out?

Sysirauta In reply to Gaiala1 [2008-10-15 19:39:55 +0000 UTC]
...Okay, I didn't know you had waited this that much... ._.'
Dark because.
If you use light blue, you must press pencil harder to see lines well, and those lines leave imprints into the paper. So if you have to erase line afterwards, there's still that imprint which then annoys you during final colouring process. ...You know those white lines among colour...? It's just that.
...That's why I prefer dark blue. It's the result of long learning process (at first I used lighter colours and have just that problem...). You don't have to do same if you don't want but at least now you know why I do so. |3
