Soooo a background tutorial was the most voted suggestion on the poll I held, so here it is. Sorry that the text is a bit blurry and messy, paint tool SAI can`t handle file sizes bigger than this. (I should probably do a part two just about filters and perspective and stuff like that ehhh)There are a lot of great painting tutorials out there (probably better than this one) but this is the way I draw backgrounds.
I hope that this helps somebody at least a little ~ If you have anything to ask I`d be glad to answer. :>

I've got some curiosity now. When you're painting, do you usually do it all on one layer? I've been slowly using less layers because I'm finding when I don't, colors somehow like to blend with the emptiness and it looks all faded.

Yeah, I've noticed that it's possible to get more color variation when painting on one layer. I usually draw the sky on a separate layer though, because it's easier to work with that way.
