I found these lemons the other day. Apparently I made them, misplaced them and forgot all about them... as a result, the metal parts got tarnished, dark and ulgy. This happens if you leave your metal jewelry or findings exposed to the enviroment, I recommend that you always keep your jewelry stored in a baggie or something similar to avoid tarnishing. But let's say you forgot about it too, and found your favorite piece all ugly like this how do you clean it?

I thought this would be the perfect chance to show you how to clean the metal findings and pieces of jewelry in a way that is completely safe for polymer clay. Polishing clothes, solutions and electrolytic baths are available, but unless you try them there's no way to know if they're safe for polymer clay... and you don't want to damage your precious jewelry! Besides, baking soda is found everywhere and super cheap, I guarantee this is the easiest method ever XD thanks to my mom for showing it to me, all credits go to her

NOTE: To the best of my knowledge, this technique is safe to use with all kind of jewelry or metals, except for aluminum. It's specially useful to clean silver plated findings, which tend to tarnish quite quickly. It shouldn't damage crystals or stones either. However, if you can afford it please have a professional clean any expensive jewelry. Use some common sense.

Hi Talty I was keeping my 'for sale' jewellery in a plastic fishing tackle box with the lid closed but when I opened the lid a strong smell came out - which I presume to be the polymer clay, so I've been leaving the lid open - I didn't think about tarnishing. Do you think the smell of the clay is normal? I'm still worrying I'm under or over baking it

This is awesome! I have this issue with some of my pieces since I've had them hanging on a display since my last show, so they've tarnished a bit. I thought I'd have to go back and replace all the findings but now I don't.
