Thank you for the wonderful tutorial!! It really helps hopeless learners like me!
Dumb question (sorry ): About the glaze, you drip the translucent clay all over the waffles and then bake it again?
Thank-you!

Sorry about the super late reply, I lost this message for so long x.x I hope it still helps, but there's no dumb question: that's one way to glaze the waffles, but what I did here was just use some cheap air-dry glaze it's more glossy and easer to use, in my opinion. Sculpey and Fimo sell their own kind of glaze

that is really good a technique i use is i take a paint brush and brush on a golden brown pastel chalk and the toasted look comes out like a charm! you should try it some time it gives the art an extra umgh!

Talty In reply to Knaya227 [2012-11-25 15:28:22 +0000 UTC]
I use that too, except that I use several colors to give it more dimension

Knaya227 In reply to Talty [2012-11-25 21:50:12 +0000 UTC]
Cool although i have not tried using colorful colors yet! How or what kind of projects would you use purple or yellow or colorful colors for!
π: 0 β©: 1
Talty In reply to Knaya227 [2012-11-26 03:10:47 +0000 UTC]
Oh no, I mean that I use a sort of ecru color, some light brown and some dark brown for the more toasted parts

Knaya227 In reply to Talty [2012-11-26 22:51:22 +0000 UTC]
Oh cool but i was testing it and realized you can use it to enhance any color. Like to give strawberries a bit more pop! You should try it, it is fun when your art has a bit more wow as you probably know!

A little question i've been wondering. About the pastel chalk, varying from white to nice crunchy brown, that people such as in dA use to make their clay creations really nice looking sugary or baked.
What kind of pastel chalk is that? Can you just.. Buy any kind of those and they will not burn in the oven? ono Im afraid to buy and test anything, to spend money on something, not knowing if it'll work. Also, kind of same question about the paints that people use to make great details to their works. Does just a normal acrylic paint do the trick? Will it go blergh in the oven? ;o;

Talty In reply to omenaapple [2012-10-23 17:39:48 +0000 UTC]
As far as I know any pastel chalk will work, just make sure it's pastel chalk and not pastel oil I actually use some cheap pastel chalks that I've had for 10 years or so. As for the paint, any acrylic paint works if you want to paint something after baking, but if you plan to bake the paint I would test it first because not all paints resist the heat.

Humm. So my newest mission will be getting some pastel chalks from somewhere. Thanks again, Talty! ^^

I got some clay (no liquid clay though) and the first thing I did was make the waffles following this tutorial! I had to mix my own colours and so they are a bit off, and my clay went all dirty, but I think they went O.K. Although I wish I had liquid clay for the syrup! I tried texturing the sides, but they look more like cake texture! Anyway, here it is : [link]
Hope the link works!

It works! Sorry I didn't answer you before, I think the shape of the waffle looks great I love how it looks toasty. The butter looks great too! The sides do look like cake texture, it's just a matter of keep practicing but so far it looks great

Sugarfloss9 In reply to Talty [2012-07-17 17:21:03 +0000 UTC]
Thank you! It didn't have the texture at first but then I prodded it a little, and when I tried to cover it up it looked deliberate, so then I had to go all the way round! Thank you so much for the lovely comments!
