Description
My cooking tutorials:NOTE: Pasta is originally made with semolina, a flour made from durum wheat. Durum wheat is rich in gluten, that's why you need to knead the dough for 10 minutes to build up gluten. I don't have access to semolina, so I use all-purpose flour and the results are just as good!
Italian food is my favorite kind of food
Tutorial divided en three so you can see them in blocks and not an unit, you can use any part of the tutorial at your best convenience:
I love making food from scratch... if I had enough space, I would even harvest my own vegetables

I know what you mean... it's pretty much the same when my mom tries to explain a recipe. That's exactly why I try to make tutorials so easy to explain.

I've been eating home-made Italian pasta my whole life, and none of it has ever, ever had eggs in it. Eggs are for egg noodles.

Well as ~Artemis-aka-Diana said, "in Italy as well every family has his own recipe, there's no perfect or "wrong" recipe."
All the home-made pasta I've ever eat has eggs, that's just our recipe

But.. but.. art how?
No disrespect of any kind, and I sincerly want to congratulate you!
I am however not seing the 'artsy' part
(But maybe you're going to make it all nice and fancy, in that case.. I didn't say anything at all)

Some of us consider cooking as a beautiful form of art, after all, it playfully stimulates all five senses. I particularly like simplicity, finding that sweet spot where all the flavors come together and it's perfect, with few simple ingredients. I strive to achieve that, and no recipe nor tutorial can make it happen. It requires sensibility and inspiration.
To me, that's art. Of course you're entitled to have your own opinion and I respect that, and I appreciate that you share your point of view

I never, ever, intended to disgrace you, your work and your deserved DD, and I hope it shows through out the comments I've made!
Your DD just made me wonder, which set off some kind of friendly discussion between fellow members. It actually made me reconsider my own opinion, and I know now that art isn't just something 'visual' it's an experience which can be created just as easy with food as a medium.
Thanks for taking my comments and the discussion following as good as you did!

Of course you didn't disgrace me, I really enjoyed the discussion you had with *Formel , it made me understand how people see tutorials (as someone that loves making tutorials, it was very valuable info!).
Thought I apologize because I only noticed the discussion now Anyway I agree with your conclusion, art is a complete experience

I'm glad to hear that!
I enjoyed the discussion myself too, it's nice to see how the community reacted to my comment and how it did in such civilized way without nasty comments!
I'm also happy you gained something from this all, I hope you'll be able to use it in the future. Wise lessons were also learned by me, so I guess it's sort of a win/win?
Ah shoot, yeah I think I missed that when I first commented.. How lame of me! >.<"
Well, it's hard to reach that kind of level of awesomeness.. so don't feel bad

Well, THAT I can understand, but practicly, this is a series of photographs showing you how to make a ball of dough.
But then again, this could be series of photographs showing you how to make art... xD I get confused.

Talty In reply to SanneCazemier [2011-02-14 14:16:47 +0000 UTC]
Perhaps you didn't realize that the tutorial is divided in three parts...? I believe I received the DD for the three of them, not just this one.
Otherwise, I admit, I got a DD for a ball of dough it's almost as awesome as this: [link]

Well, you got your money in the right place!
But isn't this more like, a recipe?
I don't mean food isn't art, but then I think in turns of a food artist making pretty food-stuff, photographing food in a nice way or it being drawn.
There's nothing wrong with tutorials LIKE this, they're very helpful!
For example, "How to make a marzipan rose", it's art, it's tutorial, and it's food.
But this particular tutorial isn't like that.
(// still no disrespect, dear artist)

Well, that's clears it then. I shouldn't have said anything xD
