When using my tutorials or techniques explained in my tutorials all I need is that you say or write "Inspired by Talty" somewhere on the description, that's all I'm asking for. A link back to my gallery or tutorial is appreciated, but not necessary. You can make anything in my tutorials for personal or commercial purposes (yes, that means you can sell what you make) but you can't claim these techniques as your own. No redistribution, reposting or repacking of my tutorials, images, text or any part of them is allowed. They can't be translated to other languages without my permission (ask me about it). FREE TUTORIAL, NEVER TRY TO SELL IT.

UPDATE: The amazing ~Snowfern pointed out some mistakes I had made about the baking times. She explained to me why it was important to bake your items at the correct temperature, for the right amount of time. Even if your minis look fine, they're raw in the inside and they will deteriorate overtime! Not immediately, but in a few years they will crumble... so please, I can't stress how important it is to learn to bake your creations correctly!

I am sorry everyone for the mistake, I hope I didn't cause trouble I am not perfect and I am still learning, so if you see me making any more mistakes please let me know I really want to help, so I certainly don't want to give false information. Please give some love to ~Snowfern !

MY MOST AMBITIOUS TUTORIAL TO THIS DAY IS FINALLY COMPLETED.

One of the tutorials that helped me the most when I was learning how to make cakes was this [link] by Betsy Niederer
If you still have trouble understanding how to texture the cake, I recommend you see this video [link] by *fairchildart
Cake brush by ~Nana-viciouS

Cakes are one of the most complicated things I do, so the tutorial ended up being quite long... actually they're not complicated, they're quite easy but they involve many steps.

This took me months to finish, months! I took the first photos 3 months ago, and the last one just a couple of days ago. It was getting ridiculous: the more I advanced, the more I felt the need to take a new photo, explain a new technique, revise everything... I had to stop myself from dragging the tutorial any longer. It's finished, but I'm sure that I'll want to revise it again in the future.

Well that explains why the lightning is so inconsistent. I'm sorry about that, I hope it's not too annoying.

My next tutorial is going to be something quick and easy or I'll die what to do next?

My template and cakes made by me using this technique:

I've been making clay miniatures for quite a while now but I can always use more pointers. This is definitely one of the better tutorials.

Do you know how to deal with sticky clay? My white clay is so sticky it clings to my fingers, I can't do anything about it, what do you suggest?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Talty In reply to JeanaWei [2012-03-03 06:39:05 +0000 UTC]

Have you heard of leeching clay? Basically what you do is that you roll your clay thin, and place it between two pieces of clean white paper. The plasticizer (which is what makes clay pliable) will leech out of the clay, it will look like an oil that gets absorbed in the paper. Try leeching your clay for a day and see if it's less sticky, if not repeat with new pieces of paper until your clay is firm enough for you.

What does 20 parts translucent clay to 1 part sunshine clay >w
(P.s Thank you so much for this tutorial it helped me A LOT DD)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Talty In reply to Rainbowgum [2012-02-20 05:42:15 +0000 UTC]

It means that you have to put 1 part of Sunshine and twenty times more of translucent. I do it by weight, meaning I weight 1 gram of sunshine and 20 grams of translucent. You can do pretty much anything you want, like 1 and 20 equal sized balls.

Thank you I'm glad I could help, please let me see what you do with it! ^^

For icing, you can also use chalk or mica powder to color. I found it takes a lot less time to mix!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Talty In reply to Bubbles1010101 [2012-02-17 06:36:36 +0000 UTC]

That's true, but the consistency can be too thin in my opinion, I like my icing thick so I can spread it nicely. However that's just my opinion, if it works better for you go for it, and thanks for sharing! ^^

Bubbles1010101 In reply to Talty [2012-02-17 16:42:48 +0000 UTC]
