If you can expect a tiny bird to carry you (Pidgey, Spearow, Pidove), then a Butterfree should work just fine.

Mantine is part flying type, based on aΒ fighter plane and has everyΒ single sprite/3D model that shows it floating. (This one about MantineΒ is just a personal thing, though. I can see where you come from.)
