Yeah, because it would totally be logical if they completely changed the evolution of female Cacnea for no reason. They never made any new evolutions that could've been done in older games. Well, I think Piloswine could learn Ancientpower as an egg move before, so it could've evolved into a Mamoswine, but it's a bit different... There shouldn't exist any female Cacturne this way, so if somebody traded one over, that would be really weird. One last thought: there are many, many types of cacti in the world, there could be different cactus PokΓ©mon as well. I like the idea less that they haven't made a common prevolution for Miltank and Tauros. I mean, they are all female and all male, they represent the two genders of the same animal, and they even have the same base stats, just switched over.

Pachirisu andf Emolga? an Evolution line? that seems kinda stretchy knowing their stats :\ also, take note that unless there was some way to make a stone that makes regular pokemon able to gain flying type abilities, i doubt that Pachirisu will ever evolve into Emolga
also, the cacnea line is based off a different kind of cactus then the kind that Maractus is based off of. both of those kinds of cactus don't grow in the same area so there is no doubt that they would be seperate

There's undoubtebly many things that make Luvdisc and Alomola similar, even if it's based on a sun fish.
Pachirisu and Emolga are very much alike (electric squirrels and you know, the cheeks) but you're right, they can't really evolve.
As for Maractus, two cactus-like Pokemon are enough, am I right?

even if they do look simular, you gotta realise that they just arn't gonna be the same. Gamefreak made the thing so they do whatever they want with it :\

dude, the pokemon world has creatures that are based of things that are in our world and even the ideas of aliens, so you'd expect gamefreak to take into account the fact that there is more then one species of cactus

well, Sableye do tend to wonder away from their original homes to find new homes and sableyes are no acception. i made it up to where a male Sableye had been curious enough to go wondering around the world from hoenn and met a female Celebi in ilex forest. the Sableye and Celebi had some fun times together and in time they fell in love. it's not impossible dude

Okay, I agree with the Luvdisc/Alomomola one, but as for the other's...
When most Pokemon evolve, their form becomes bigger and they look like an older version of the other, Pachirisu and Emolga look too much alike for that. They both look too young and playful.
And lastly... the main reason I think Cacnea doesn't evolve into Maractus is because they were based on two very different types of cactus. I think they're called a Nopal Cactus and a Opuntia Cactus, and I believe they are found in different deserts as well.
