Description Zutara Week 2009, Day 6

"Rhythm"

Dancing is probably not the most original idea for rhythm, I know, but gosh-darn-it I like ballet, and I've been meaning to draw this picture for a long time. This was just an excuse.

Anyway, I hope you like it.

Pose referenced from an old picture from a production of Swan Lake.

I think this was one of the best! I know lots of people that dance, and it does take lots of rhythm.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the compliment. And you're right, dancing of any kind takes a great deal of rhythm.

You know, I've seen a LOT of Zutara Tango pictures. I assume this is because the Tango is associated with passion and feeling. But what people don't realize is that classical dance, like Ballet, can have just as much conviction and emotion.
This works so well. Brilliant work.

Thanks very much. I appreciate the compliment and your thoughtful comments, and I agree with you about ballet communicating emotions. That's part of why I chose it, but I also wanted a Zutarian ballet because ballet, like other classical dances, often tells a story and I felt that was important because the narrative is such an integral part of why so many people like the ship.

Too true! You really put a lot of thought into this. That's the sign of a great artist!

Thanks.

I did both ballet and tap (and jazz... and highland... lol). I always thought tap was especially fun.

I lalalove ballet and miss it so much! This picture just makes me miss it more.

My only problem with it is Katara's strange jaw line & mouth. D:

I miss it too.

And I agree with you about her jaw line. I had to redraw it over and over and still couldn't get it right.
