Description
OMG, I'm actually uploading something! And it has an actual background!!!For those among you who have the possibility of being scandalized by such pictures (few though you are), it's completely innocent, I swear (though that ought to be obvious since they're dressed and there are other people around, one of whom is that cute cuddly baby).
And now to explain:
The above is an illustration of the end of chapter 28 of Sandra Evans' oh-so-incredibly-fabulous Zutara/Sukka (/Omashu) fic, Eclipse, which can be found at --> [link] .
At this point in the story the gAang is undercover in the Fire Nation, their cover being that they're all from the colonies, Zuko and Katara are married and so are Sokka and Suki, Aang and Toph are Suki's younger siblings and their parents have just died in a flu epidemic, which is why they're with Sokka and Suki and Iroh is somehow everybody's uncle and they're all going back to the Fire Nation (and they're all under assumed names, except for Suki and the baby, whose name is Nozomi). The baby is a half Fire Nation, half Earth Kingdom baby who Katara (and thereby Zuko, since they're pretending to be married) acquired/adopted from a woman on the ship on the way to the Fire Nation. The reason Iroh isn't in the picture is because he's very likely just been captured by Azula, from whom they are on the run (hence the random field). And the scene at the end of chapter 28 ( which is called "Family"), where they're all going to bed in the random field after running from Azula all day, was just so very sweet that I just had to draw it, so here it is.
Yes I know that the perspective is off, and that Sokka isn't where the story says he should be (but that was too hard to draw), and that Aang looks like he's in Toph's earth tent, and that there's something off about Zuko's skin tone that makes him look kind of dead, but oh well. I like it.
And in case the fact that I drew this doesn't make it clear enough, I very highly reccomend that fic. It's awesome. Not only is it very well written, but the plot is complex and highly original (qualities that tends to be a bit lacking in shipper fic). It's the only Zutara fic I've ever read where Iroh meddles to try and prevent Zutara.
Anyway, there it is and I hope you like it.
And for the record, NO, I do not want to argue shipping with you. But, if you fav', please comment. I really like comments.

That looks very nice! It is cute. And, I don't mind AUs if they're done well and everyone is still in character. I might actually read this one at some point, since it sounds like it's one that does the pairing well and without a lot of bashing (I cannot stand character bashing....)

Thank you so much, Tempest! The pic is absolutely beautiful, and while you didn't exactly capture the exact scene that I had in my head, you managed to convey the overall mood that I had pictured.
You are too incredibly wonderful! Mwah!

Yeay! I'm not surprised it's not the exact scene in your head (I'd have been shocked if it was). Heck, it's not even exactly as it was in my head, it's just what I was capable of drawing. I'm so glad you like it.

This is SOOOOOOOO sweet. Sooooo cute!
Very cute. I don't know why people hate pictures like this. They are so cute sleeping together...not in the dirty perverted way, just sleeping because they are like duh! Tired.
Nozomi means Hope in Japanese.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it. I don't get why people would disaprove of it either, since they're just sleepy and stuff. I understand prudishness (I'm a bit of a prude myself), but some people might take it a bit far, so I figured I ought to disclaim and explain just to be safe.
And thanks so much for letting me know what Nozomi means. I had no idea what it meant and I'd been wondering.

I have a couple of lists of Japanese baby names because I'm bad at making up names, and Nozomi is always on there and it means Hope. Which is a good name for a baby born in a time of war.

Oh, that's handy. I tend to just make up names by stringing semi-random letters together.

DragonJadefire In reply to Tempest-in-Blue [2008-02-08 00:39:39 +0000 UTC]
I do that too, but making up names is difficult for me, especially Asain names, they all seem to sound the same when I make them up, so I just use baby name sights.

I hope that last bit wasn't meant for me....XD
Because I don't like arguing with the pieces I watch. I only argue now if I search "Aang" and find a Zutara pic that has nothing to do with Aang.
Very well-drawn. Good to see new stuff from you!

DUDE! I hate that when it happens! Only I search for Zutara and I get a random kataang or maiko pic that HAS NOTHING to do with Zutara. And the sad thing is, the random kataang fic is normally bashing Zutara.
And on top of that. I'm sick! As in with a cold! Stupid Frodo, giving me a cold.

Don't it may make your eyes burn. Because your a maiko shipper and all...yeah. I don't see a lot of maiko in the Zutara search but you get a fair amount of kataang.

Hahaha. Thank you. I appreciate it. Actually, after your journal entry saying that you might give up dA for lent I had figured that you probably wouldn't even see this till Sunday at the soonest. In that regard I'm glad I was wrong; it's nice to get such a quick response, and it's always good to hear from you. (Also, for the record, the fic is semi-Maiko friendly, so there'd be no point arguing with you about it anyway.)
Though you're right; it is highly obnoxious for people to intentionally put the wrong names.

Ha. Not likely....don't have much to do....
I don't really read or enjoy fanfic unless it can fit into canon. XD I'm boring like that. Fandom is a canon supplement for me. Which is probably one of the reasons I dislike Zutara so much....because it doesn't fulfill that quota. There's even some Maiko like that. Sometimes, I enjoy a good spin-off storyline, but....usually....the moment it breaks from canon, I lose respect for it. Whatever fic it is. And even if it's just my mental canon....if it deviates, I shy away. So, yeah. Story of my fandom life.

I can respect that, and I do like fic that fits with canon (in most fandom situations), but sometimes I really like an AU if it's well done and plausable enough.
