I finally finished it! Yeay! Well, ok, I cheated, but still, I finished. I started this picture months ago but then didn't have time to finish it, so it's been sitting on my hard drive, just waiting. And now it's done!

I should probably explain. This, if the title didn't clue you in, is a Zutara version of a neoclassical painting of Mars and Venus (in the same vein as my Maiko Fire Nation Gothic), though, alas! for the life of me I cannot remember either the title or the artist of this particular painting. If anybody knows and can tell me, I shall be greatly impressed.

So anyway, a while back I was talking with about different paintings and things that would work well/be analogous to various Avatar ships, and Mars and Venus was what we came up with for Zutara, so I decided to give it a shot, and many many MANY months later, here it is. Yeay!

Originally this was much bigger and included Aang in the role of Vulcan, but he and the background and everything was just WAY too much trouble, so I just decided to give up and crop it a bit and erase Aang. I think I like it better like this anyway.

And the reason Zuko is in full armor and helmet is because Mars was in the painting. The reason Katara is in her underwear is because Venus was naked in the painting, but I didn't want Katara to be, so I gave her something to wear. I still think the wall and stuff behind them is wicked boring, but oh well. I don't care enough about decorating it anymore. All in all, I like it. And I really, really like the way the bed turned out. It looks so...rumply.

EDIT: I find this picture suddenly even more apt and aplicable for Zutara, in light of the recent kataangy spoilers, seeing as how Venus was married to Vulcan when she was sleeping with Mars. Hahaha. Yeay for smexy fanon audultury Zutara!

EDIT (2/17/09): thanks to abit of help from ~angeltx441 I have finally been able to determine that I based this pic on "Mars and Venus Surprised by Vulcan," painted by french artist Alexandre Charles Guillemot in 1827.

Note: this picture assumes that both Zuko and Katara of legal age. duh.
