UPDATE: I am so frustrated with this picture right now, I can't even describe it. At first I liked it, then I didn't, then I didn't know, and now I'm just confused and frustrated. Why? because some people have said that Zuko looks angry, and some people said that he doesn't, and I can't make up my mind! sometimes I think he does (especially in thumbnail view), but other times I don't think so. When I'm looking at the big version and the original I don't think he looks angry, but when he's smaller he does.
It's that dang eyebrow. The eyebrow makes him look kinda angry, but the rest of his fave doesn't look that way. He's not supposed to look angry!
See, the look I was going for was concentraton or intent or something along those lines, and when it comes to expressions and the drawing thereof the face I'm most familiar with is my own. In drawing Zuko this usually helps, as my eyebrows are shaped almost just like his. BUT, the thing is, when I'm concenrating or are really intent on something I look Angry. I don't mean to and I'm usually not angry, but that's how I look (and when my face is neutral I look very cold, very Mai, and slightly snobbish. That's just the way my face is), and aparantly, because that's what I'm used to, that peculiar facial quality has transfered onto my Zuko (whom I otherwise like very much). And it doesn't help at all that we're all so used to seeing Zuko angry, since it's kind of his default expression.

*sigh* Darn it. Now I'm all dissapointed with myself, even though I still mostly really really like this one. Maybe I'll find a way to fix it without totally smudging everything later.

Ok, dispite my intentions for speed with my Zutara 100, it's been a while since I uploaded anything (those of you who read my journal know why already. Stupid class...), so I decided to put the one shot I was writing for one of them on hold since it's taking too long, and draw something pretty. I think I like this Zuko much better than one one in #36.

So here's #1: Beginnings. Aren't first kisses pretty?

I hope it's satisfactory.

And yes, I put Zuko's hair up in the topknot, because, dagnabbit, I like the topknot (and it's easy to draw).
