It really depends on what the skin tone I'm going for. Are you planning on colouring it digitally? If so, I might be able to give you a palette to help out. Of course, keep in mind that I'm not always perfect with it

Sorry for the wait. Here's a color palate I use sometimes. Please don't be afraid to move away from it after you feel more comfortable. Remember that certain artworks need to have more and less saturation depending on their mood.

I really like this tutorial!!! Using the pen tool is really clever! I cant beleive I didn't think of that XD
I have one question, or rather a request... could you perhaps give us a skin color pallet like you did with the eyes? (pallet's for the hair would be awesome too but I'm not gonna be fussy ^_^)

Oh, do you use elements? Also what you can always do is use a small, hard brush and keep using undo till you get it right

when you're coloring, how big is the canvas you use?

I'm so sorry for the late reply but the canvas is usually maybe... 4000-5000px for the longest dimension (wide or long). I also work in 300 dpi

Hmmm it's difficult to say. It completely depends on how large the picture is. Try sliding it around until it looks good. That's what I do xD
