- Day 11: Insect -

After the attack in China things slowed down. Their goals seem to involve Orcadire somehow, that much is obvious, but now with Orcadire MIA they probably had to reevaluate their strategy. Weeks passed as a massive thunderstorm started to envelop Japan. The unnatural weather had D.A.K.A on their toes, anticipating a kaiju attack any moment. They were right to worry, as a gigantic flash of lightning in the middle of Nagoya materialized a kaiju in the shape of a beetle. Weaving through the lightning strikes, the jets moved in to unload their payload. The beetle aimed its pincers at them and let out an arcing beam of electricity, exploding the jets on contact. Ground forces moved in, and while they proved highly resistant to the lightning, their shots did little to no damage in return. Trying to stall for Orcadire to show up, tanks were equipped with large lightning rods to absorb and divert the lightning attacks to minimize damage. Despite their efforts, Orcadire didn't appear. D.A.K.A were on their own. Having noticed how the giant beetle avoided stepping into water, they formulated a plan. Luring it near the coast, they drove trucks rigged with explosives into its legs. It staggered, but was still standing. Knowing this was their only chance, one heroic pilot flew straight into its head. The impact and resulting explosion was enough to cause it to topple, and as it hit the water it completely discharged, leaving only a lifeless husk behind. As the weather cleared up, D.A.K.A scientists drafted plans for further upgrades. It was now clear they can't rely on anyone else if they want to survive.
