Description
Hey, guys!People keep asking me what I use to draw and how I get my lines so clean. Now I'm going to show you!
CLICK HERE TO NAVIGATE TO THE VIDEO:
Anyways, this was largely due to a Tumblr request I got today (yesterday?). Sort of the last straw to break the camel's back. I'm tired of typing everything.
Basically this is me, through sheer power of will and ingenuity, finding a way to film myself drawing. It involves the re-purposing of a vanity case. Don't ask.
Please let me know if this was at all helpful! I really only wanna share what I know and if I don't do that effectively, then that's a problem.
Thanks, guys!

Are you german or is just the eraser from germany?

I'm South African. My particular eraser is manufactured in Malaysia, though.
Useless information, but still.

Thanks so much!!

This has been reaeeeally helpful Ez thanks
Okay and this may be a dumb question but have you tried to erase colored pencil with the kneaded Β eraser? And does it provide you with the same result?Β
π: 0 β©: 1
The-Ez In reply to wittywonka [2014-06-14 21:06:00 +0000 UTC]
erm, it still works on coloured pencils, but in the same way a normal eraser works. Like, it works kind of, but not really. So no, it doesn't produce the same result, but you can still lighten really fine and teensy bits that a solid eraser can't reach.
It might also depend on the pencils, though.
Glad you found the tutorial helpful!! Thanks for watching!!

Doh, I have a question I forgot to ask on the video. Does the "steamrolling eraser" technique help avoid smudging the lines? I find if I erase my darker lines, I tend to smudge stuff onto the paper.
π: 0 β©: 1
The-Ez In reply to whiskeyii [2014-06-14 07:30:33 +0000 UTC]
Absolutely! What happens when you "steam roll" is the eraser picks up any extra graphite and grain in a static position. That alone never causes it to smudge. So Erase first with the putty eraser, then erase with a solid eraser. That will guarantee the lines will be gone, gone, gone forever!
Best of luck!

I don't do much traditional drawing these days (and when I do, I tend to use a pen, because I'm insane) but back in the day the kneaded eraser was one of my favorite tools! I never tried using it like a steam roller, but I made lots of use out of being able to shape it however I wanted.
Seriously, kneaded erasers are the best!
It was also cool seeing how you draw!

Ooh I like the "steamrolling" technique. I hadn't thought of doing it like that (I usually just dab at it lol) I tried it out, and it was definitely better!Β

This was super helpful. I never thought of "steamrolling" the puddy in order to lighten the drawing. I usually just press it, or dab it? Whatever. THAT. haha. Anyways, I like your style. A bit Disney-ish in a way. haha. Truly inspiring.

That's hella cool. I'm heavily inspired by Disney, which is why most of my drawings kinda look like Disney characters (or so my brother tells me. haha) But I try to create my own style, you know? Not just copy Disney.
