Description
Welcome to part two of my Friendship is Magic comic "Without Magic".After hearing that her faithful student is using Magic to solve everyday problems, Princess Celestia has transformed Twilight Sparkle into an Earth Pony.
I've taken on board some of the criticism of the last page (Mostly from readers who raised the whole "Earth Pony" V Hornless Unicorn issue), and I've modified my script a bit for the next couple of pages because of it. Mostly, it's made it longer. So please be patient as I've got more frame to draw that I originally scripted for.
Spike was supposed to be more encouraging, and was supposed to reassure Twilight about what Princess Celestia wanted, but I had to cut the scene in order to get everything ready by the end of the day as it was taking too long to do everything. I may put the scene into another page later on.
Anything that isn't directly attributed to somebody is either based on an image from the showadvertizing material for the show, or is scratch drawn (Some things are a combination of the two). I didn't use General Zoi's Pony Creator for any of this (yay).
The background is Library Upper Floors (Twilight's Bedroom) by DaringDashie (daringdashie.deviantart.com/ar… ).
Twilight Sparkle in Frame 5 and 6 was inspired by Comic - Dragon Trouble by DaringDashie (daringdashie.deviantart.com/ar… ), though it's not a direct copy. Twilight's Expressions were heavily guided by Faces of Twilight Sparkle (Vectors by Kdogfour (kdogfour.deviantart.com/art/Fa… ).
The food on the table was inspired by this video (www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWrc56… ) by ToucanLDM. As I needed something to get me started.

Spike is a combination of Spike is not Amused by tamalesyatole (tamalesyatole.deviantart.com/a… ). I used the legs, body, ears and spines, but redid the face, mouth and arms to suit my scenes better. I also simplified the image a little to fit in better my simplified version of Twilight Sparkle.

Seriously, while I like the idea of Twilight learning how to live and work as an earth pony, Celestia would never do something as cruel as take Twilight's horn away just to teach her a lesson. It's completely out of character for her. It would have made much more sense if Celestia had simply challenged Twilight to go without her magic for awhile and Twilight had simply taken things a step too far and gotten rid of her horn by herself.

Seeing how Twilight was borderline useless without magic in Winter Wrap-Up, this comic probably won't end well.

Boring idea. Way to make Celestia a bitch. Reduce the angst, this isn't your shitty edgy anime.
If you're gonna do this then go all the way and at least have Twilight slapping Spike for being an ass. Sparkle always sucked ass for being too polite.

Spike wasn't being an ass. That was just tough love. It's like parents teaching their children to be responsible for themselves. They'll never learn if you do everything for them.

Non sequitur. Any character smaller, weaker and acting like a smartass automatically gets bitchslapped or owned assertively in some way by the more powerful and intelligent character. Ever tried to hide the cake from your parents and refused to tell them where it is? not the brightest idea, unless you enjoy being locked in your room all day and not being fed. Old people don't have patience for such bullshit... and this comic is filled with faggy sappy shit which you'd expect from an abused kid like Perfectblue who watched too many diet plot cartoons and never stood up to his own parents.

I've been reading a lot of pony comics lately, and one thing that most of them have in common is that they tend to be one liners and situation comics based on some kind of pun or twist at the end. The kind of thing that you probably wouldn't get in an episode (Especially since some of them are a little adult, or involve fanon and\or shipping)
Most of them are excellent, and I'm jealous that I can't write or draw like that.
So, rather than copying what other people are doing, I thought that I'd go in the opposite direction, and draw a comic that's much closer to an actual episode.

It's not the way that I'm going to take it, but it would be interesting to have an alternative version of this comic where Celestia comes to realize that Twilight wouldn't be Twilight without her magic, and restores her to her old self.
I'm not sure that Pinkie is a normal anything.

I know it looks like Spike's just being a dick here. But maybe he has his own set of instructions from Celestia forbidding him from helping her too much beyond his usual duties in the library.

The original reason that Spike didn't want to help her was that Celestia wanted her to find out how Earth Ponies and Pegasus did things, and then to do them herself, without depending on her magic.
Twilight's magic is advanced even for a Unicorn. She does things with magic that many other Unicorns have to do with their hooves, or which they have gotten used to doing with their hooves.

Just as I figured. His aid is only to be given AFTER she fails to see the solution after several tries. I wouldn't be surprised if he was reporting on her progress on a regular basis. She really needs this lesson to grow into the leader the Element Bearers need.

I had originally thought of having Spike saying that he'd been given instructions of some kind, but I cut 4 frames from this comic because it was taking too long to draw, and I wanted to get it out that day. So those lines went along with some encouraging lines that he was supposed to say.
