Description

Alex’s life was changing before his eyes. Every morning, he would wake up before any of the other animals and would sneak out of the Den, before he would run away and go back to the Explorers’ camp, before returning back to his family as the moon rose.

One morning, before the other animals awoke, Alex wakes up in the den, and sneaks past every sleeping animal. As he walks past everyone, he makes it out of the cave and looks at the horizon just as the sun slowly creeps up to say its morning hello. He looks across the jungle, and an eager smile grows on his face just before he runs off to go see what new things he will do with Lyndsey. But as Alex runs through the vast wilderness, he didn't notice that two fellow Herd members saw him leaving—Kamala and Yaotl.

Ever since these strangers had arrived, Alex has grown more distant with his family and seemed more happy with these strangers. An upset look can be seen on Kamala’s face as she looks at Yaotl, and the jaguar places his paw on her shoulder for comfort.

Kamala knew she was already starting to lose her son, as he chose to be with these strangers, instead of his family. She knew all too well that this would inevitably happen eventually. Ever since she had first found him and took him in, she knew that it would be only a matter of time before he would discover what he really was. Time is running out, and she knew the day where he would make his decision on where will he stay.

Would he come to terms with what he is and stay with his family? Or would he decide to be with his own kind? Kamala knew Alex would soon have to make that decision.
