Although I have a difficult time deciding exactly what is my most favorite horror film this one is easily my top five, hell, maybe even my most favorite. "John Carpenter's The Thing", I can watch it a million times and it still never gets old, best monster gross-out movie ever. So I felt like doing my own version of the Thing. I really had no plans on how it would look, I just started sketching and came up with this. It was a blast letting my twisted mind go wild. Anyways, if you haven't already seen the film go and see it. Very fun, scary, gross, and intense film.Related content

John Carpenter's The Thing is proof that you don't need CGI to make an awesome movie like this.

I have watched the first one and still looking for the prequel.Don't get me wrong, but that isn't just a tad over mutated?I mean, look at all the faces, the teeth and tentacles/veins/whatever...not that is a problem, though

Yup! I saw it the day it came out last year, not as good as the original, but I still loved it! Great origins story to the original. Yeah, the centipede looking form that latched on the guy's face freaked me out. I have a huge fear of bugs inside people or parasites, so when it latched on to his mouth and started pushing into him and out his eyeball I got so creeped out! XD

Watching it lurking around like a general monster killed almost all the fear i had stored for that part...even though, when it jumped out of the shelves i went like "HOLY EFFIN SHIZ IT'S GONNA GRAB ME!"

Yeah, it should have hid in human form more often, it's not like it to be in a monster form, the Thing is a camouflaged hunter, it almost never ran around in the open in the original.

the hard part is dodging it's puke cause it's infectiuss.

speaking of this did you know the thing has more phorms than it look's even it could obsorb an entire city and still look small but when your alone with it it could look like something awfull the hard part is burnning it.

In my point of view, they did everything was the same. They only had two parts that were different but they were small, either way I do believe they stood to the origional.

I wonder if the new The Thing movie will match the elements of John Carpenter's without using too much cheesy CGI.

I pray it does, anyone that knows me knows I can't stand a whole lot of CGI, it should enhance the movie, not be the movie. The effects in the original were gorgeous! I still wonder how they did some of the effects. XD The movie looks promising so far, but we'll see. I hope it ties in well with being a prequel, like shows what happened to the Norwegians, how the dog got infected, etc.
