Although I have a difficult time deciding exactly what is my most favorite horror film this one is easily my top five, hell, maybe even my most favorite. "John Carpenter's The Thing", I can watch it a million times and it still never gets old, best monster gross-out movie ever. So I felt like doing my own version of the Thing. I really had no plans on how it would look, I just started sketching and came up with this. It was a blast letting my twisted mind go wild. Anyways, if you haven't already seen the film go and see it. Very fun, scary, gross, and intense film.Related content

Incredible drawing...what nightmares must you have!
I got a big surprise when I read John Campbell's 1938 story "Who Goes There?" which both the 1951 and 1982 movies were based on. Here's the surprise: unlike the 50's flick, John Carpenter's movie was VERY faithful to the story...right down to the dishes of blood fleeing the hot wire, the shape-shifting, etc.
I had no idea anyone was imaging scary s__t like that in 1938!

Lol! It's really funny, cause my dreams that are about monsters, beasts, and horrific stuff doesn't scare me, I actually love them, but my dreams of my real life fears scare me, like my loved ones or pets dying, my parents getting divorced again, etc.
I haven't read it yet, but I want to! I heard the same thing, the original film I heard was sorta lame, and didn't go by the story, but John Carpenter's was dead on. Such a wonderful film!

Never seen The Thing, actually, but this is pretty horrifying. I love the detail you put into the little faces, teeth and claws. Yup, don't want to find this thing anywhere anytime soon ...

Agreed, all these years and advanced graphics on, The Thing is still one of the freakiest films there has been.

yeah, i did.Im not sure john.C done much current sequels or prequels...so i really dont think he will be working on it....witch means the movie is in the hands and mind of someone else, we'll just have to see how it comes out.

Yeah, I hope they do a good job and stick to practical effects like the original. I hate it when they use so much CG it looks fake. Unless it's done VERY well I like practical effects.

This movie! When I first watched it I was like ten and it was a nightmare! I think the part I jumped the worst at was the blood testing. This movie is by far the most disturbing horror film I've ever seen, which is funny because its over three decades(?) old now

Haha! My dad watched it for the first time the other day and the blood scene scared thing crap out of him, he jumped so bad. XD Such a classic movie. I heard they're making a prequel, I hope they stick to modern effects like in the original and not CG the hell out of it, unless they do the CG VERY well.
