I finally saw "District 9" the other day.....and I LOVED it! It was simply amazing! What a creative and exciting film! I think it's the best movie I've seen this year, and is easily one of my favorite alien movies. So after seeing it I just had to draw a Prawn (The aliens are called Prawns since they're bottom feeders and look like prawns). I love their design, plus I think they're cute as hell, especially Chris and his child.
Anyways, I don't want to give any spoilers, just go see this film! As for this drawing It took me about 8 hours to draw, it was REALLY difficult since I had a tiny still to work from as a reference, most of it I had to look up or do it by memory. I think I did a good job though. Oh, and to those who have seen this movie.... Is it just me, or did they skip this scene? Like in the trailers they had this interrogation-like scene where they're asking a Prawn where they're from and the Prawn replies "We just want to go home." . That wasn't in the movie! Maybe they'll add it in the extended version, which I would so buy when it comes out on DVD.

The last 2 weeks I've been seeing a lot of new movies, I saw [link] , which I thought was boring as hell and not one of Steven Sommers best films, then I saw Transformers 2, which I thought was good, not as good as the first one, then finally District 9 WHICH KICKED ASS!!!! 8D

Neil Blompkamp did surprisingly well! I'd say putting people like Spielberg (TF 2) to shame. Figuratively speaking.

Totally! It's nice to see something other then a sequel or a remake, which is like most movies. T_T I Love the Prawns! I don't get why the people were so mean to them, they're awesome and adorable!

Awesome Job as always, I've got some mixed feelings about seeing the movie (mainly cause I have no cash) I've heard its slow, diceptive, and disapointing, but now I'm hearing its wonderful, imagenitive, and exciting...I'm at a real loss on it. I love alien movies, especially ones that build in plot, but I don't like having the wait end in a complete let down. I'm hearing so many mixed feelings about this movie that I cannot make an easy choice on weather or not to see it, cause I don't wanna be like the last person I heard from who demanded their money back. As a true sci-fi fan doom, is this a movie that any true-blue sci-fi fan will love?
P.S. I read a review online, the interigation scene was removed because they thought it wasn't needed and decided to remove it near last minute...Or so I've read.

Really? I haven't heard anyone say they didn't like it. O_O everyone I know that's seen it has loved it. I personally loved it. It's sorta like "The Last Broadcast" how it's filmed, like it's a documentary, though near the end they sorta stray apart from that, which is okay. As for the story I can't really compare it to any movies I know, it's pretty original, I love that the aliens are more humane then the humans are in the movie, where usually in movies aliens are always out to "Destroy man kind" and yadda yadda yadda. The only thing I think might make you not like it is that it's not like alien movies like "Independence Day" or "War of the Worlds" where it's almost entirely action and things getting blown up, don't get me wrong, there is that, but they really focus on the story and characters, not just the effects. Although the effects are outstanding. I don't know, it just depends on what kind of movies you're like, I hope I helped a little with your decision, personally I think you should see it though.

Yeah, you did. The main thing I like about movies is one of the biggest things I like about games and that is characters that are easy to connect with and a story that fits to them as well as easy to follow. Don't get me wrong I like hard to follow stories too, but their harder to pull off. But I think I'll see it when I have the cash and my car's fixed.
