Description

We Humanids, as a specie’s unique, at one time gained the ability to think for ourselves. For our ancestors to encounter obstacles, to ascertain the necessary process of thoughts in the correct order to overcome those obstacles, is one of the greatest achievements our world has ever witnessed. From the cutting of wood, to creating fire, the carving of stone, to building stone houses, the hunting of beasts, to taming of livestock, the ‘spark’ of thought has been steadily growing stronger over countless generations and may, one day, consume our Realm in its entirety. Dragonids have enjoyed the affinity with thought since before our collective ancestors had any inkling of self-awareness. It has been long understood that this increasingly rare species had enjoyed a rich and vibrant culture for countless millennia. Whilst they never co-mingled and seemingly persecuted what they considered the ‘lower species’, of man and man-beasts, they have allowed us all the opportunities to expand our knowledge, albeit, without their assistance. With the length of time their ‘spark’ or ‘fire’ has been in existence, it has been seen to be dwindling at seemingly increasing rates. The Cursed Blight of 139 GotroTunas (GT), over 2000 years ago, has killed off most of the Dragonid and Dragon populations. Ever since the Blight, their numbers have struggled to recover. If at all.

Sadly, the Blight is continuing to ravage and take hold of healthy Dragonkin throughout the Realm and Corrupting them into ever more dangerous creatures that spread significantly more damage than their non-Corrupted counterparts. For example; if a healthy Dragon were to be seen flying over the peaceful City of Volstoc, then the simple farming folk might consider that a good sign for a bountiful harvest, yet they would never take their eyes of the beast until it vanishes over the horizon for fear of it fancying a snack of one of their Jaqadra. Whilst most healthy Dragons prefer peace there are times where they like to “thin the herds” when their appetite begs of them. Adversely if a Plagued Dragon were to fly over the City of Volstoc it will inevitably plunge to the earth in a ball of fire and madness and turn the city and its surrounding settlements into a land of desolation.

Another certainty is that Dragonkin are highly aware of “Glass Plumes”. Areas that are highly rich in Glass formations. These influences are determinate of the Dragons self-awareness and can affect them in any one of a multitude of ways. One of which is the unusual attraction the Plumes can have on such beasts. The larger the Plume, the stronger the attraction. So why, exactly, has this particular Cursed Dragon decided to take residence on the edge of a long-abandoned, heavily ruined city, and infested with The Cursed, whose name and former purpose unknown, is unbeknownst to our valiant ranger. The Expeditionist Guild has attempted to send multitudes of their members to investigate the depths, but few have gotten further than the most shallow of areas. The Cursed are everywhere in that archaic world. The further you go down, the more there are. Attempts have been made to immolate large numbers of The Cursed, but they only manage to replace their losses from sources unknown. During these Expeditions no sightings of Glass Plumes have ever been sighted.

There is something here that has had an attraction to this Cursed Dragon, yet, at this time, it’s not of immediate concern to the ranger who has spent months tracking down the cursed thing!

She springs from her vantage.

She sucks in her gut.

She holds her breath.

She takes her aim.

The only one she’ll get.

After this, that's when the real fun begins.

Nice work. I do have a few minor quibbles with how she's drawing the bow, however, namely the placement of the arrow and angle of the bow. In "western" style archery, the arrow rests on the side of the bow where the fingers are, not on the thumb side, so that the arrow rests on top of the index finger. This leads to the issue of the angle of the bow, which should be perfectly vertical, not an an oblique angle with the palm facing upwards. Everything else looks superb.

I have to admit guilt on the subject of operating a bow and went for something relatively close whilst being as action packed as possible
I'll try and keep your comments in mind for future action-bow poses for the future! Thanks for commenting!

Can't see any traces of any fixing up work you did, which means, you did a great job.  I love this pose and this action.  I'd poo if I had to shoot that arrow.  Just sayin.

Holy cow! I'm not very good with 3D but I know I'd have one very dead GPU and probably 7 melted cpu's. All of the bricks are displacements? Wow.

Great piece!Nicely done.
