This dA tutorial's DD is a prove that it's awesome!
Just a tip, though - please, save your works as 24-bit/32-bit .PNG images, the output quality will be way better or as 100% quality .JPEGs as a last resort!

For some reason, the option to suggest a DD isn't there... Do I have to be subscribed in order to get it?

Oh no! if you are talking about the "Suggest DD" option that is shown in the tutorial, that's a firefox add-on ([link] by `Solitude12 )
This tutorial is to show the "traditional way" to suggest a DD, and you absolutely don't have to be subscribed to make a suggestion
