This is an over simplified god-mod killing guide for the actual stats. Nothing more. I'm not a mass researcher (outside of class, anyways), so any tiny nuances have been left for for simplicity's sake.**Note for my sanity**
I'm getting rather impatient with people leaving comments that say "I don't need this tutorial because I'm a Naru-tard" or "I'm able to make perfect OC, so this isn't for me, but I'm sure others will use it". That's great that you've got it figured out. Since this doesn't apply to you, I don't need a huge textwall of you defending yourself. Not to be rude, but I don't care. This is for the people that DO need it. Those of you who make the big textwalls of self-defense make me think you DO need it. :/ I'm not trying to be rude, but I do lash out when I'm impatient with people like that.
Also, I might leave things you deem important, sorry, but I'm making this simple... also... dudes, I don't watch a lot of anime, but I do draw it out of sheer joy. I'm doing this to help people.

I was worried about Mei becoming Mary-Sueish. Initially, she is quite low at taijutsu, relying mostly on needles and passable at ninjutsu.

While reading I mentally made a list to check if my OCs fall victim to the desease and apparently they don't, yay. Or I'm just being ignorant
Thank you for this (and your other-OC-creation related) deviations, especially the one that deals with the villages. It helped me develop my OCs even further.
I hope less Mary Sues and Marty Stus will spawn in the Future ~<3

I have an oc and I'm worried she might fall victum to the mary-sue/godmodding disease...
So, basically her back story is that her father died when she was young. She lives with her mom and two elder sisters Shinagami and Jade. She is the top student in the academy and excells in everything, however she keeps pushing herself wanting to be a better ninja. Once the chunin exam starts, her mom calls for a family meeting and says that they're going to do a ceremony that is tradition in their clan where the members of the clan can find out what their animal guide is (i.e. to summon, help in battle, ect

A character with a tragic past, over-powerful, with clichΓ©d powers... On a scale of 1-10 (10 being super-sue): 9/10... maybe 9 and a half.
Hope that was of some help... if you really want to make a strong character... I recommend a total revamp or her backstory, unless she dies after using those "crow powers". That's the only way to un-clichΓ© it as is.

lol 's ok I am used to these kinds of critiques and they are pretty helpful...I was a tad worried I might've made a Sasuke wannabe with the whole over-achieving aspect. Come to think of it, I may have to give her some sort of physical weakness associated with using her kekkigenkai as well...maybe have her body be weak like if she got the flu...nah, that's not enough...she would have to be "hospitalized" or rest for a certain ammount of days before she's fit to fight again. I wasn't hoping to make her...say...Gaara-strong, of course she would have vulnerabilities, like her Katana. It's too big to carry around EVERYWHERE, although Zabuza had no trouble with that. I digress-She was, however, hoping to become a sensei before her kekkigenkai kicked in. Thank you for your insight.

i like the grid thing i never looked at it that way so that's a nice piece to add to my research folder. A thing on the special jounin though, i thought they were tokubetsu jounin that like you said are jounin level but lack the experience or experience themselves on a certain field as are the medic, torture and interrogation but either way lovely tutorial

Well, that proctor from the first test in the Chuunin exams was a torture specialist, however he was a special Jonnin, too. They can be either/or.

I mean, as a character, making him an Akatsuki gives him a weak vibe, but if it's before "Naruto" takes place, it's believable.

yup. however, considering the so many jutsu-part, Hiruzen Sarutobi was also in his late sixties (even older than my oc) and he could still perform quite some jutsu powerful jutsu. ^^

Thanks so much! The stat-circle thing will be useful for figuring out how to map my OC's strengths and weaknesses. I need to be careful with this stuff... don't want to overpower her. I wasn't planning on making her much tougher than Ino or Hinata. :/

It has everything in it and stuff like that and I really like how you figured that whole Stats-stuff out. I guess my OC isn't exactly working that way... (I should really work a little bit more on her..) but okay, you have to be strong to survive as a girl, without a village... I guess ^^

They are taught at a young age (around 6 or 7) how to blend in with society. Girls, in particular, are taught flower arranging. Picking wild flowers and selling them for money?

That idea is great! But I'm not sure if they are taught they same thing in other countries... I mean, my OC is from Iwagakure, we've seen only few people from there and only one woman (in the manga, I don't know about fillers) and they all seemed to me like they are more battle-oriented... still.... I guess I'll use that idea you had XD thanks ^^

It's still valid. It's a traditional womanly thing to do... I suppose, as she gets older, embroidering and fabric dying work. As a fullgrown adult, maybe silk painting for the kimonos of the Lords and Ladies of the lands (they do have those, y'know).

But she will get back to being a Ninja soon enough, since she is followed by half of her village...

Yeah, followed. Because before you are executed, you need to be brought back. She is seen as a danger for her village because she killed her teammate, someone she was actually very close to. So the girlfriend of her teammate follows her... she kinda annoyed the Tsuchikage long enough to get that special missions... I guess
