Description Julie (aka Lightspeed) was alot like her older brother Alex in a way (In so far as taking responsability and often agreeing with him on many points), but clearly a girlier version since she was more sensative. Possibley my favorite scene of her ever was when Jack (Mass Master) was complaining about various thing and she instantly got all concerned and faced him, flying in front of him saying "Oh, you poor little Mass Master" ...and wasn't being sarcastic. She spiced up the comic with the personality of "What if I DON'T want super powers?" while the others were fine with having powers. She was also a bookworm, which I think is a really neat addition to an already fully developed character.

In later editions, mainly the limited 2nd series in 2000, she renamed herself "Starstreak" which sounds more like a name than a term to me.

Julie Power/Lightspeed, my secret super-crush when I was just 13 or 14 years old. :sweatdrop: I really loved her completely believable 'shock and horror' response to acquiring superpowers and how she was always trying to be the 'responsible' and 'adult' one (sometimes more than Alex).

She only ever wanted to be normal. Fate had other plans.

A lovely sketch of her, BTW - This is from th first appearance of the kids' healing factor, wasn't it? When she spontaneously healed her arm?

Actually, she had this look from the beginning. Well... at least since issue 2. The healing thing didn't come till pretty late, like issue twenty-something, close to when the Mutant Massacre happened.

You drew her in her original design . That's a plus.

She was a bookworm, but of stories and novels, while Alex was more the geek when it came to science, weren't they?

Yes. That is true, though Alex didn't stick his nose in books as often. However, his fascination with science made him able to memorize all kinds of physics. While Julie, like you said, just read fiction.

It was interesting to see 12- year-olds knowing about the Laws of Physics, but that was because of Dad Power. They were exposed to science at an early age.
