The pose is beautiful and the colors are vivid, but not overwhelming... nor is the texture. It all comes together to make a lovely piece that I just can't seem to take my eyes off of.

Ah, thank you. I have had the same experience with this piece - I never get tired of looking at it. There is such perfection in all of Andrejs' movements and it inspires me every time I sit down to work on one of his images. I'm glad you're enjoying it - thanks for taking the time to comment.

Andrejs is in a world of his own when it comes to what he does in front of the camera. Every movement of his commands the kind of elegance and perfection that we usually only see in dancers. He practices an ancient form of martial artistry called Kalari and beyond that teaches Yoga and works with people on a spiritual level. When he first arrived in the US from Latvia, Nicole brought him to meet me. The first words out of his mouth were, "You speak Italian." I looked at Nicole and laughed and said, "Wow, you told him a lot about me already." She matter of factly told me that she hadn't said a word. Only that I was a photographer and a friend. Andrejs is connected way beyond the conscious realm of human interaction and in that brings something extraordinary to his work in front of the camera. I'm in awe of him, always.
(I grew up in Italy and am bilingual.)

Thanks Mike. While this kind of work isn't easy to accomplish it was well worth the investment of time to do it. Andrejs is truly one of the most amazing people I've ever worked with - his understanding of his body and the way he uses it are both extraordinary. Time and time again in the images of him I see a beautiful symmetry that inspires very different ideas in me than what I usually experience. Yet again here is somebody who breathes wonder into my work and makes me so grateful to be doing what I do.
