I think it might be available to arrange to sit in the "decapitaed Tiger" cockpit for a photo op.
On my list of things to do on my next trip there, along with some Photos of the top of the Tomcat from the back/side windows at the top of the Island/Bridge tower, Photo the Fury, and re photo the Sea Sprite,
Actually if you look to the back/right, and behind in my Pic of the TBM Avenger you can see a good portion of it.

There is the Front-Section of one about as farback as the leading edge of the Wing-roots on siplay on a cart on the Hornet. Photo'd it but felt sad to see it that way, one of my favs!

i think there are at least 4 27-Charlie Essex-class carriers as museums now...we have the Intrepid in NY,Charleston,SC has the Yorktown,CA has the Hornet and Corpus Christi,TX has the Lexington. at least they didn,t end up as razor blades!

the original Big E participated in so many actions{Tokyo Raid,Midway,etc..}....it was almost a crime to scrap her....she was also the sole survivor of her class,Yorktown and Hornet were lost in combat.
