I've spent AGES searchin' the net for a good reference to draw this guy... Was he a tyrannosauroid (sort of like Dryptosaurus, Yutyrannus and such) or he was more derived?

Its closest relative was actually Xiongguanlong according to Loewen et al.

It was a tyrannosauroid of a similar grade toΒ DryptosaurusΒ andΒ Appalachiosaurus.

tis based on that of a cape vulture. I like referencing vultures for tyrannosauroids.

Thank you! Yeah the technique is working for me lately, though I think it looks better on the Guanlong than it does here.
