Description
again, i'm tired of seeing bad artwork created with bases so i made this. i hope it will help someone. this took me a long time so i hope people will pay attention to it.oh and if you don't have the Paint.net program i mentioned, just type it in on google and you should be able to find the cite. that's the program i make all of my bases on for any of you who actually like them.
i have nothing more to say i guess . . .
inspiration: stupid people.
ps. the top picture was made by my friend and you can't steal it even though it's amazing and you all want it XD

I normally only use that account when I upload art. And then I come back to my base account because it gets more traffic.

Well thanks so much for the last tip, I always wondered how to make them look like real anime!
If I use Paint Tool Sai but save it as PNG, then use Paint.Net or Photoshop does it still looks like that?

if you use paint tool sai, you shouldn't need to do that . . .

I tried using these tips to make my work better, I THINK it's better now... but I'm not sure what else I can do to make my stuff REALLY cool! Could you check this pic out and tell me how I did (and maybe some tips?) thanks a bunch!!

i looked at it and i like it. i thought it was very good. although, you should save your pictures as a png. file and not a jpeg. jpeg pictures make things look very blurry and unprofessional.

ok, thanks!
And I wasn't sure about saving it as a png. file cause I was nervous of people copying and re-coloring my work

what does a png file have anything to do with that?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
randomfan12 In reply to Tori001 [2012-11-03 22:07:46 +0000 UTC]
cause it's easier to recolor the pics if/when you save it as a png
that's why I save all my bases as png files, so people have an easier time using them

Tori001 In reply to randomfan12 [2012-11-04 18:18:21 +0000 UTC]
. . . if you're using a base, people are going to use the same base so i don't see why it matters. plus, no one is going to recolor something on a base, they're just going to use the base. also, you draw nice, so i want your pictures to be in good quality. people will appreciate them more.

Um, I've been wanting to learn how to do folds in a coat and I was wondering if I should follow the rules for the shirt.

Tori001 In reply to Crimson-Chaos-Star [2012-09-02 06:02:40 +0000 UTC]
depends on what kind of coat. if its a thicker coat, it wont have as many folds.

While I realize this is a Tutorial, you have some good and bad advice on here.
You say to blur the doll so it wont look pixelated. The doll looks better without the blur IMO. Pixel art and dolls are meant to have that pixely look. If you dont like the pixel look then try your hand at tool shading. Or maybe Dither or AA.
Your shading is more Cell shading I believe its called. Most complete dolls have more than two colors on them for shading. I hope this doesnt rub you the wrong way, but Its just my two cents.

the blur thing didn't work for me here and yes, i've already been told if you look at the other comments. and also, this is for idiots who draw like the picture i showed. its not for amazing artists.

I have a little of trouble with drawing folds on a back view (urgh, baggy pants).. well I've always sucked at drawing folds anyway! D:
Can you give a little avice on how to make folds on the back? Great tutorial, by the way.
