Description
again, i'm tired of seeing bad artwork created with bases so i made this. i hope it will help someone. this took me a long time so i hope people will pay attention to it.oh and if you don't have the Paint.net program i mentioned, just type it in on google and you should be able to find the cite. that's the program i make all of my bases on for any of you who actually like them.
i have nothing more to say i guess . . .
inspiration: stupid people.
ps. the top picture was made by my friend and you can't steal it even though it's amazing and you all want it XD

Go right the fuck ahead, I don't see why you didn't do that in the first place. Also, in this case, it's not smart, it just means you're butthurt.

Simple can be best. Most of mine isn't that complicated with ten thousand lines of hair or expert shading. What would the point be? As I said, why do that when I could add that to my drawing practice time?Β

Yeah! I think super-complicated artists don't remember that there's a thing called a style. XD

Sometimes I wonder.Β
It seems like some forget, not everyone has the skill they do. Not everyone wants to make something with ten thousand stands of hair and twenty different shades in their shading. Some of us just wanna make things for fun. Rome wasn't built in a day, likewise people don't learn how to make really good pictures over night. All anyone needs is to do what they love, if no one else likes it than good for them. Screw the masses, I doll and write for fun, not fame.

Yeah. Like me. None of my drawings have 10,000 hair strands and 20 different shades in my shading. I keep it simple. That's why my art turns out like this:Β Β Β
I just keep it simple. That's what I do!

if i may interrupt, i do flat pixels with minimal lines and i am going to agree with the tutorial creator, that is not style that is a lack of experience, you can make fun and fast work if you'd like that is no issue but it is not 'style' to leave out fundamental parts of a picture or abuse the beizer tool
in fact you yourself have provided the exact thing i am talking about, your tsubomi is a nice enough image and it is a decent example of style choices, something like cure and love however is super lazy and badly made, there is nothing 'styled' about it it is just the work of a small child who has no understanding of hair, clothes, or bodies
i think you should really make a distinction by ecking out an actual style of art instead of making everything a matter of 'fun'Β maybe challenge yourself by looking at art and at people and draw those things instead, you will be happier with your work, you really will

It isn't exactly polite, however I think 'bashing' would be going a bit too far. Maybe close, however it isn't quite there. Either way, it is still an opinion that needs to be respected.

I prefer the newer piece, but that doesn't mean I dislike the older one. I'm proud of everything i've made, even if its total crap. I liked it at one time, I'll make jokes and call it awful, but that doesn't mean I should be harsh on myself for something I made such a long time ago.

I personally don't like using the gaussian blur, it hurts my eyes because its blurry in the way that makes me feel like i don't have my glasses on or it's out of focus, and my eyes hurt because they're trying to make it focus... or something like that, anyways.

inside-our-mind In reply to BeadGCF17 [2014-06-15 20:11:39 +0000 UTC]
I believe the purpose is to help it look as though it's from an anime, for fake screencaps and such. If done just right, it looks really awesome.

BeadGCF17 In reply to inside-our-mind [2014-06-15 23:01:33 +0000 UTC]
it's an unfocused blur though, it might be better to just softly go over the lines by airbrushing them or something

Hmmmm...This is somewhat...helpful for me...If only I had the experience of Paint Tool Sai...;^;. You see, I'm a traditional artist who uses bases for her certain needs. And I can't use a digital art thing because that would be out of my knowledge. Anyways, I think this is helpful for me and digital users alike, because, I PRINT out the bases and use them, but I don't do a shitty job on them, god but I used to...ugh. I'm a young artist who...doesn't exactly know how to shade or all of this like, but this really helped me understand it alot better! I just need the right pencils and tools. This deserves a favorite, I applaude you, miss Tori. Oh, and speaking of traditional tools, what would you recommend? I use Artist Loft and Prismacolor.

Wow, long comment. Um, I'm glad it has helped you. I made it a while ago so I'm surprised people actually like it. There are tons of drawing tutorials on DA and I suggest you utilize them if you want to learn how to shade and whatnot. A good artist can use any tools or any brand to make art. It all about how you use the material. Buuuuuut, Prismacolor is the way to go if you want to make life easy. I would suggest using Micron pensΒ www.elftown.com/stuff/aj/7914/β¦ for outlines and such. They come in all sorts of sizes. Also, if colored pencil is hard for you, I think copic markers are the best way to go for drawing traditional anime. They're somewhat difficult to use and it will easily take over a year to get used to drawing with them, but I ASSURE you it will pay off in the end.
Β Β Also, its really none of my business, but if you're hoping to learn how to become an independent artist, I advise you to stay away from any sort of bases. In he end, tracing will not help you get better and it causes lots of trouble for artists later on in life. It's best to start drawing freehand at a young age and will make you a stronger artist in the end. Instead of bases, use pose references from dA or other sites. Don't trace, but practice daily and start with drawing the poses exactly. Eventually you'll have a clear understanding of anatomy and won't need to use them as much anymore. I know its contrary to this tutorial. I used to make bases, but I dont approve of them anymore.Β
If you have any questions at all, I'm happy to help or redirect you to people or tutorials who can help you better than I can.Β

Who cares if you're undiscovered, that doesn't mean people can't care. And it definitely doesn't mean you're not right, but if you think that way about yourself, chances are that people will think the same. And don't listen to parents. I've learned that. Often times they think their high and mighty and always right, but they're just the same as us kids.
