Description
This was taken in Little Cottonwood Canyon near SLC, Utah.As you can the area has received more snow that it has in decades, and the snow effects almost every living thing inhabiting the area.
For us, the commute to work is slowed and is more dangerous, while animals like deer and elk are fighting for their lives trying to find enough food under the enormous amount of snow.
What drew me to this small exposed section of the stream was the texture of the deep snow piled high above. The texture was created by the recent storm along with gravity pulling loose snow down into the stream. Also the shape of the rocks created some nice lines through the image.
Full view helps.
Canon 5D. 24-105mm. HDR. Circ Polar

love how the texture of the snow makes it look all crunchy and makes a contrast to the soft looking water =]

Excellent detail in this... a total great shot. I love the blurred flow of the river, too.

Interesting photo. When I first saw the thumbnail for this, I thought that I was perhaps seeing another image within this image! To me, it appeared to be the face of a person lying down, formed in background of the scene in the rocks and the snow. I don't know how many other people saw it, but that's just what I saw. Cool shot, and beautiful scene!

I see what you mean, others have thought it was a wooly sheep. Crazy what the imagination can cook up.
