Description
Deviantart itself is a huge resource for finding anime style pose references. Just use the DA search box to find them (it's in the top left side of the DA page). Alternatively use GOOGLE; going that route use the image search to quickly view what's available and then use the advance search tools to narrow down or focus your search if necessary.Suggested search terms:
anime pose reference
cute anime pose reference
anime girl pose reference
The basic idea when using search terms is to narrow down the field of results by including words that define your specific area of interest. There are literally thousands of references out there just related to anime characters, made primarily for people who want to learn or like to draw manga or anime style illustrations. Almost all of these can be used by MMDers. Plus you can get specific references such as posing hands and even expressions.
Of course you can also use pose data made for normal humans, just make allowances for the distortions inherent in anime style characters/models. These are generally slight and have minimal impact on what you are aiming to do.
Also, it is generally a good idea to give credit to the artists or resource provider that created the pose data in the first place, just like we did.
Note also that poses cannot be copyrighted, but pose data can such as pose data sheets can be copyright protected (the sheet itself, not the pose) but (generally) MMD or other digital pose data cannot be protected. Since everyone can make the same pose, the courts have ruled that poses can't be copyrighted so you can't be sued for sitting in a particular way for example. Generally, the same ruling applies to 3D models.
What this means is that you can safely copy any pose for use in your own projects.
Important Correction: Pose data can be copyrighted, just not the pose that the data represents. If in doubt consult a lawyer.

Oh yeah! I'm glad it's not cheating to use MMD as a pose reference for drawing (because I do that sometimes).

Menu Option: Background > Load Background Image (R)
Usually, you can then move / resize the background image if you use the Ctrl key + mouse AND either the magnifying glass or move icon on the top right of the MMD display. Some MMEs will disable this function, so best not to have MMEs loaded when you need to shift the background image around.
You can also turn off the image display via the menu as well as change the image simply by loading a new image.

That's useful to know. Sometimes replicating Box Art is a little hard or if you are editing a base to be a bit different in proportions. Thanks.

I use them quite a bit especially when developing motion data as they are a good source for some of the cutesy poses used by anime type characters.
