One of my favorite Montecore Models.

That tutorial (and model) dates back to 2012; seems like yonks ago for some reason. Still have that model though.

The shadow effect are the ones that comes with MMD by default except in the last panel which was 'Photoshopped'.

Thanks for the steps! However, how do you get rid of that red dot on models?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to outlire [2012-07-25 15:54:02 +0000 UTC]

There are two ways to get a "clean" screenshot.

  • Play back the scene full screen and use the PrtSc button
  • Use the Render to picture file function under the File menu

outlire In reply to Trackdancer [2012-07-28 09:50:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! When I selected Render to picture file, and saved, I ended up with the vertical green line. I realized that I had to unselect something first, but couldn't find options to remove the red circle. I then tried Render to picture file again, and got what I wanted. I guess at first I didn't realize that only the green line showed, not the red dot.

Trackdancer In reply to outlire [2012-07-28 10:20:43 +0000 UTC]

The vertical green line is part of the grid and can be hidden - it's under the View menu (I think - not in front of MMD atm).

The grid is useful for setting things up, but should otherwise be hidden. The red circle shows whenever your not "playing" or rendering, and this is actually a useful feature as you'll know exactly where the MMD camera is pointing.

    Galactiweirdo [2012-07-12 04:23:27 +0000 UTC]

    how do you render?

    👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to Galactiweirdo [2012-07-12 04:53:07 +0000 UTC]

Under the File(F) menu choose Render to picture file(B).

But before you do that, normally you will want to set your screen size to the full extent of your monitor. This function is under the view(V) menu - screen size(O)

    xXHIMRXx [2012-07-11 23:46:50 +0000 UTC]

To get a bigger image you can always adjust the screen size to fit your likes and your pc's measurements

    👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to xXHIMRXx [2012-07-11 23:56:53 +0000 UTC]

Turning the girl 90 degrees makes it possible to get an even larger picture of her than by just setting the output to match the monitor's size (which I do anyway).

The larger image, especially in either BMP or PNG format contains more data for a high resolution output which is necessary when you export to an external application and want sharp detailed definition.

But you did point out the one thing I did neglect to mention in the tutorial ><

    LOL

You want to render the export at the same physical size as your monitor

I just do this so routinely I completely forgot to mention it, thanks LOL

    👍: 0 ⏩: 1

xXHIMRXx In reply to Trackdancer [2012-07-12 00:09:08 +0000 UTC]

well, you actually can export much bigger sizes than monitor. Depending on the computer it may even let to render up to 3000 or even 4

Trackdancer In reply to xXHIMRXx [2012-07-12 00:12:37 +0000 UTC]

Well you're lucky - on my system if i tried that MMD crashes, so in a sense this is a workaround I developed for my situation.

Good thing you pointed this out though, for the benefit of those with newer systems or better graphics cards.

    👍: 0 ⏩: 1

xXHIMRXx In reply to Trackdancer [2012-07-12 00:16:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, i had an old pc so i know your pain. Though i was able to put it past 1280 and 1024 but just by few hundreds.

It also depends on the mmd version as older ones crash at bigger resolutions that work on newer ones on same computer

    👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Trackdancer In reply to xXHIMRXx [2012-07-12 01:04:20 +0000 UTC]

Which is one of the reasons why I'm phasing out support for models that work with MMD ver 5.24.

Today I found an old folder I had not seen for a year. Hundreds of backgrounds and templates. LOL
So, I for practice threw one together and posted it. Funny how you thought to do a tutorial on that type of subject. I owned a photography studio at one time & to engineer photos was our edge over the competition.Verbally you simplified the process
